“20th wedding anniversary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

We were there at the Hyatt from Aug.23-25th. I had read the reviews about this place and I am so glad we chose to stay here. From the moment we checked in, the ladies at the front desks, the conciege and even the maids went out of their way to see that we enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice and clean. The bed ( and pillows ) were very comfortable. They have a cafe for those wanting breakfast and a nice bar to relax in. We had a Bourbon Street balconey that we enjoyed just people-watching. The really loud part of Bourbon Street is actually a couple of blocks down so the noise didn't bother us at all. Don't know when we will get back; but we will definitely stay here again !!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 238 that had the balconey on Bourbon Street. They also have balconey rooms on Iber...

Stayed here for our family vacation, beautiful very large suite, modern and very clean, fabulous location within walking distance to all the sites.
Suffering from Celiac, eating out is always a challenge but was absolutely thrilled to find out that the delightful cafe "Powdered Sugar" situated adjacent to the lobby had GF options, breakfast was easy and delicious as they made me GF toast and a veggie omelet. The staff were very knowledgeable and quickly put my mind at ease pointing out all my GF options The food and beverage manager and the executive chef came out to talk with me about how aware the Hyatt Hotel group is with regards to offering GF sensitive clients healthy food choices, this is something they are proud of at all Hyatt Hotels! Very impressed, we would stay with Hyatt again!

The Hyatt French Quarter is located on Bourbon Street a block from Canal Street, in the former D.H. Holmes department store. You are close to all the tourist sites in the French Quarter like Jackson Square, Café du Monde, and of course, Bourbon Street.

The lobby is modern and stylish with the heavy scent of magnolia permeating the reception area. Check in was a breeze with the friendly and professionally trained front desk receptionist. She explained all of the features of the hotel, honored my request for a King Courtyard room with direct access to the pool, and handed me my card keys in less than five minutes!

The room was very spacious, airy, and open—with 12-foot ceilings, beautiful art work, and dark plum walls. In addition to the comfortable king-size bed, there was a plush, deep purple sofa with a round table that was perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring the French Quarter. The bathroom was a palette of white subway tiles, marble-covered counters, and plum walls. The walk-in shower had plenty of water pressure and was stocked with Kenet MD bath products. A connecting door near the bed opened up to the relaxing and well-maintained pool. There were plenty of lounge chairs and an uncluttered poolside bar that served delicious beverages.

The hotel features a quick-service restaurant in the lobby called Powered Sugar, where we dined on the breakfast buffet (available on the weekend) that serves fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, sausage, grits, potatoes, fresh fruit, and pastries. We also had dinner at the Red Fish Grill, connected to the hotel through the lobby, and were impressed with the service and food; be sure to try the BBQ oysters.

Our room was very well kept and the maid service was exceptional. The only issue we had during our stay was the Roomlinx interactive television did not work correctly. I tweeted @HyattConcierge about the problems with the interactive television and was told a hotel representative would be contacting me; that never happened.

I would definitely recommend staying at the Hyatt French Quarter if you want a modern hotel, excellent customer service, and convenient location.

Positives:
• Excellent location
• Professional staff
• Modern and clean rooms

Considerations:
• Hotel had a corporate chain feel
• Do not stay near the Bourbon Street balcony rooms if you want to sleep

Room Tip: Rooms directly across from the Bourbon Balcony Suites are noisy well past midnight

Stayed here for the weekend and the location can't be beat. Even though it's in the middle of the action it's very quiet. The room are cleans and the beds are great. We had a Bloody Mary in the bar downstairs and it was fantastic. A tad pricy at $13 but they garnish it with tons of stuff including shrimp.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Staff and the the hotel was top notch.

Excellent hotel in the French Quarter. Beautiful rooms newly furnished. The corner rooms are large and comfortable. The staff are extremely pleasant. The restaurant in the lobby called Powdered Sugar is fabulous amazing coffee and equally amazing breakfast with full gluten free options for those that need that. Nice pool and courtyard. This is definitely a good choice of hotel.

One block from both Bourbon and Canal Streets, this two year old Hyatt franchise is extremely clean and we'll maintained. If you're looking for ambiance, however, this is not your place - the decor is very modern. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, the room was spacious, and the meeting facilities comfortable and convenient. There is also a pool in a courtyard on the second floor for an escape from the French Quarter craziness. Would we stay there again? Probably not, but only because we like older hotels with history and atmosphere. Would I recommend it to business travelers and visitors looking for reliable and predictable franchise accommodation? Absolutely.

Room Tip: If they offer an interior room, you should probably take it. There is nothing especially scenic abou...

A pretty standard hotel room that was a nice base in New Orleans being close to the tram line and both sides of the city.
We stayed 3 days and on the second last day, a notice was slipped under our doors telling us a function was happening in the courtyard. Our room's windowed doors opened into the courtyard and it ended up being a properly loud function with the band literally standing at our door. We decided to go out but I'd imagine if you had kids or wanted to sleep that night before 10pm, that might have been an issue so I'd suggest families and business travellers avoid that area as it seems to be an area where a lot of functions are held regularly. I appreciated the warning and it didn't bother me but felt it was a pretty funny stretch for a hotel to put on such a noisy function right outside people's rooms.

Room Tip: avoid the courtyard rooms or rooms that are near it as functions can feature live bands
