“Incredible value compared to others”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

5 stars seems to be handed out liberally by some. I have stayed in nicer hotels in my life, BUT, we are talking overall.
First, booking online through expedia proved to be a great start. We saved quite a bit of money. They were busy that weekend and they ended up upgrading us to a pool view room. Keep in mind that a lot of hotels in this area offer rooms with no windows at all.
The concierge was incredibly helpful in helping us locate places we wanted to see.
The rooms are exactly as shown in photos, unlike some places. We did not eat there, but, the restaurant always seemed busy and was well kept.
The location is a block removed from Bourbon st. Which is quite nice when you are finally done with it for the night. It's also right at Canal St. Which is ideal to get public transit.
The gym was quite clean, the pool are was very well kept.
You would expect to pay about $250 per room for this. On expedia, it's easy to get these rooms for WELL under $200.
the only downside, which was a common problem for hotels in the French Quarter.. Parking. Pay $35/night at the hotel, or $25 at a public lot nearby. Otherwise. Great stay!

Room Tip: Request a balcony, if they are booked tight, it's the automatic upgrade.

Stayed here 4 nights for a conference. Nice hotel, very pretty lobby. Bar and casual dinning restaurant (powdered sugar) very good and reasonably priced. Just 1/2 block off Bourbon St which has it down side. My room was very large and clean and a pretty comfortable be and pillows. However the TV was very small compared to the size of the room. Very hard to see from the bed with bad eyes. Also, the rooms lack a desk. It has a round table and an armless couch, but not great for working. Considering the number of business meetings the hotel holds, you would figure people would have realized this. Another area in which the hotel needs improvement is security. One night at 2 am, a very drunk man was banging on my door. He was looking for 618. This hotel only has 4 floors, there is no room 618. I had seen this guy on Bourbon street earlier in the evening. He must have wondered into the hotel and made it up to the rooms. Esp in this area you think there would be security at the entrances.

Room Tip: Try for a room with a balcony over looking the courtyard. the streets are very noisy all night long...

So there were some definite pluses to this property. It was clean, newly decorated, had a nice bar and small restaurant, nice pool (although the people were sketchy), and beautiful high ceilings in the room.

cons- at first I considered the location to be a good thing, but the smells of bourbon street are NOT good, and the noise kept me awake/woke me up ALL NIGHT. My husband, who sleeps literally through everything, was woken up several times through out the night because of the noise. The staff is a little incompetent and doesn't know very much about New Orleans, and we were charged for room service that we did not order. We got it taken off, but if I had not specifically asked which charges, they would have charged my card without showing me a print out first. I guess for the price I expect more.

Lovely hotel! We traveled to New Orleans for a friend's wedding. All of the out of town guests and wedding party stayed at the Hyatt. It was close enough to all of the activity of the French Quarter but not too close to keep you up all night. The rooms were big and very clean. Our room opened up to a charming courtyard - nursing a hangover with the blind open to a thunderstorm made for a relaxing afternoon. The hotel staff in the bar and in the breakfast place were incredibly friendly and helpful. We would stay there again!

Great stay at the Hyatt FQ, just off Canal and Bourbon Streets. The staff was consistently friendly and professional. We had a room on the fourth floor with a balcony overlooking a lovely, quiet courtyard. The room was quiet and clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom was a generous size with Kohler fixtures and upscale toiletries. I particularly liked the cool grayish-lavender walls and color scheme in the rooms. Perfect location for exploring the French Quarter.

Room Tip: Request a balcony room overlooking the courtyard.

Lovely hotel very close to the hustle and bustle of bourbon street. Our room (467) had a balcony with a Suntrap. Generous sized rooms and an above average sized bathroom. Entry key mechanism superior and effective. Only issue was that there were no handrails in the bath/shower and no place to hang used towels. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard or pool to minimise disruption at night.

Amazing stay for 4 nights, Used a Diamond Suite upgrade to an oversize connector suite on the top floor over the pool. It was very quiet at night, great sleep! Steps from Bourbon St and so many great restaurants. (Bayonna, just around the corner on Dauphine for one)
Staff always there for any need, as well as a watchful security eye in the evening hours, much appreciated. Breakfast in "Powdered Sugar" is OK, free for diamond members. The bar had competitive prices and great service, just poor wine by the glass, Canvas really is bad.
Will return soon.
