“1st time to NOLA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

Stayed for 3 nights the weekend of 1/19/13. It was my first time to New Orleans. I was in town for a bachelor party so I didn't spend much time in the room. That being said, please don't let that deter you from continuing to read. Being in the hospitality business, it was a very enjoyable stay. I knew that Hyatt had recently taken over and it seemed as though they were still doing some very minor renovations to the property (I saw some painting of the doors in the lobby).

Rooms were very beautiful, a very modern look to them. I'm assuming for the most part things were updated quite a bit from perhaps a more historic feel from before. I had seen in a previous review about there not really being a desk or sufficient chairs. The room I stayed in had two beds and had a bench and small circular table. For the purposes of this trip, this really didn't concern me, but perhaps could be an issue for a family with two or more children. Our view was of the courtyard w/o the pool, so it was quiet.

Location was great, half a block from Bourbon Street. It was easy to walk to restaurants and bars. I even walked down to Harrah's Casino several blocks away with ease.

Staff was good. Housekeepers did a great job servicing the room. We weren't bothered super early to see if we wanted service. Front desk, check-in and check-out were good and efficient. Bellman and valet were very nice. If they weren't tended to other guests they would always open the door to enter or exit.

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I would definitely consider staying here again if I am ever back in the area.

We stayed in rooms 315, 316 and 317. These rooms face Canal and are fairly quiet considering we were there at the beginning of Mardi Gras. Could not ask for a better property. The front desk staff is very patient and tolerant of everyone. This hotel is across from the Ritz Carlton. I thought for sure this hotel could not compare to that, but the rooms are fantastic. Will definitely stay here again. Perfect, perfect location.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Canal are fairly quiet.

The location was perfect. Close enough to walk everywhere but far enough away from noise at night. The breakfast at powder sugar was made to order and delicious. The staff was so helpful and polite. The rooms were large and comfy. Best hotel I've ever stayed in

The hotel is beautiful and very clean. The room was large with high celings and very comfortable beds, nice soft bedding and a variety of pillows. They provided Portico products in the bathroom which was very nice. We had a balcony that overlooked the pool/courtyard so it was quiet with a peaceful setting which was nice after all the hoop-la on Bourbon Street. The staff was very friendly and helpful in directing us to things we wanted to do and see which were all within easy walking distance. I definitely would stay here again.

You could not ask for a better location with this hotel. It is on the corner of Iberville, Canal and Bourbon Streets. We were able to walk all the way to the World War II museum, the casino, Aquarium, Cafe Du Mond and the French Market. Excellent location to many great attractions and restaurants. Excellent staff and the rooms are larege and comfortable with neat views of the city life going on all around you. I would definitely recommend staying here when in New Orleans. Make sure you give explicit details about which Hyatt you are going to though. We told our second cab driver the Hyatt French Quarter and he took us to a Hyatt Place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Iberville, Canal or Bourbon street for great people watching if you don...

The hotel itself is Beautiful. The room was very clean and contemporary, and you can't beat the large balcony over looking bourbon st. The bed was super comfy, and the little cafe in the lobby has excellent coffee too. However, the noise level at that particular end of the street is extreme!!! I know that the end of bourbon near canal can get a little rowdy after hours. I did not know that it turns into some crazy, insane, street crunk fest. From about 3am to 5 am each night, music blared from cars below. People were dancing in the streets and screaming at the top of their lungs. Our windows rattled and earplugs just were not cutting it. One night the cops broke it up, but I swear I have never seen anything like it. I come to nola every four or five months and stay on or near bourbon a lot. So I know to expect noise, but not like this. Overall, I loved the hotel, but I do not think I could handle the lack of sleep from the craziness below the balcony again.

Newly purchased as a Hyatt and remodeled, this hotel was a great stay for our 4 day trip to NOLA. The rooms were large, ours with a king bed and nice couch, with a nice sized bathroom. The room was clean. The bed was VERY comfortable, with a variety of pillow types, which was nice. The staff were friendly. We did not eat at the hotel. Location was great for exploring lots of different parts of the city. We could easily walk the French Quarter or to Harrah's casino and the Riverwalk area. The trolley to uptown/Garden district was right across the street basically. IHOP was right on the block for breakfast, (and McDonalds one block up, for those who like that sort of place.) The street noise is loud at night, which was not unexpected with the location. Perhaps a courtyard room would have been a better choice for a quiety night's sleep. I will request this when we return.

Room Tip: For less noise without the view, maybe try a courtyard room.
