my travel agent recommended this place as he really enjoyed it. He no longer recommends hotels for me. The hotel and room were quite charming, sevice was a little slow. the location is too central, slap bang on bourbon st, I guess it depends on why you are in new orleans. if the plan is to party all night and sleep all day - stay here. If you expect to get any sleep, try another hotel.
had a good but not great shower. Bed was comfortable!

should have stayed at the roosevelt :(

Thank you for your review about your recent stay at our hotel. Being a hotel in the Heart of the French Quarter along with our location on Bourbon Street, the noise level can get a little loud at times depending on the room type you select. We offer interior courtyard facing rooms for those guests who prefer quieter location. Please be sure to keep this room type in mind the next time you stay with us. We look forward your return visit!

Staying in this former convent, ideally situated in the heart of the French Quarter, is a must. We just got back from spending 4 wonderful days celebrating our 20th anniversary in NOLA. Upon our arrival at the Bourbon Orleans, we were greeted by friendly staff, an upgraded room and bottle of champagne (with congrats letter from management). Our large room was located on the main floor and had direct access to the pool via French doors inside our room. Having the opportunity to cool off in their tranquil pool after exploring the Vieux Carré was heavenly. Our “summer in the city" package" included a daily delicious complimentary breakfast at "Roux” and 2 free cocktails at their Bourbon “O” Bar. The Bourbon "O" plays great live music and Miss Charming makes one delicious Sazerac. More great music and places to eat/drink are located right outside the door. For all you “saints & sinners,” the Bourbon Orleans is situated on Orleans Street, right between Bourbon Street and the St. Louis Cathedral. Great experience from start to finish. Check it out, y’all!

Room Tip: Inside rooms are quiet.

What a GREAT review!! Thank you for selecting our hotel to celebrate your milestone 20th Anniversary and I am so happy to hear everything about your stay was wonderful! Located in the Heart of the French Quarter you are just steps away from the best the area has to offer. Our beautiful courtyard saltwater pool offers our guests a perfect way to cool off after a long day of enjoying the streets of the French Quarter. Our newly renovated bar provides the freshest cocktails in the area and the knowledge of our manager is known throughout the country as evident by your personal experience. The History of our Historic Hotel is available in print so be sure to ask for a copy when you return for another visit! We look forward to seeing you in the future!!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Bourbon Orleans after not being in New Orleans for years. We wanted to stay in the French Quarter near the excitement of Bourbon Street but also in a classy hotel that was clean and where we didn't have the street noise. This was picked from four we were looking at. We definitely will be back again! I can't say enough about it. The hotel is in a perfect location kind of at the end of Bourbon's main street noise. The hotel is clean, the rooms are nice and spacious. We had an issue with not having a table in our room but were told that the rooms were recently renovated and not all the rooms had tables yet. It wasn't a huge issue but a bit of an inconvenience so check ahead. Also we were there during a Saints/Falcon game so there were some loud groups. The hall and rooms aren't very soundproof. Again, not a huge issue. The staff were friendly and very helpful. They recommended tours, which we took and were impressed with. Staff that stood out: Jamini (restaurant), Dennis and Geo (Registration). The bar was one of the better ones on Bourbon with a "piano" bar and great entertainment. The atmosphere was kind of like an old school cocktail lounge. We had a lady singer (can't remember her name) with a keyboard player (name?). The bartenders (Becca, Kerry, and ?) are friendly and so knowledgeable about drinks. They make everything fresh and right in front of you. Very classy. Also a big thank you to Elton (manager on duty) who explained a lot to us about the hotel and area while we were siting in the lobby on our way out. Again we will be back. You won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We had an issue with not having a table in our room but were told that the rooms were recently renov...

Thank you for being a recent guest of our hotel and for taking the time to write a great review about your stay! With all the hotel choices in the French Quarter, I am happy you selected our hotel for your visit. Our central location makes it so easy for our guests to walk to the best shopping, dining and attractions in the French Quarter. I will be sure to pass along your great comments to all the staff members you mentioned who, as you know, do their very best to ensure all our guests have a wonderful stay. Our newly renovated bar offers an elegant atmosphere and the freshest cocktails on Bourbon Street. It's a great alternative to the typical bars in the area and we are now proud to announce we are "smoke free"! We look forward to having you back as our guest the next time your travels bring you to the Big Easy!

Stayed here for Southern Decadence this year for three nights. From check in to check out had a great experience. Check in was a breeze and the front desk staff was fantastic. We thankfully had a room on the back overlooking the beautiful pool area so it was very quiet. The doormen were very helpful with LOCAL places to eat. We like to avoid the trendy tourist places to eat so a big thank you to the doormen. The location is another big plus, right off of Bourbon Street so its an easy walk.

Only reason I did not give an excellent rating is that I would suggest they extend the shower heads about another 3 inches. It just was not comfortable trying to take a shower and I wonder how extremely tall people make do. Otherwise the room was very clean, the beds very comfortable. It was a pleasure staying there and I would do it again.

Room Tip: If you want a nice quiet night, ask for a room overlooking the pool.

Thank you for staying with us during Southern Decadence and for taking the time to write a great review about your stay! It's refreshing to hear the positive comments about our staff because they work so hard to make sure all our guests have a wonderful and memorable visit to our hotel. Our courtyard facing rooms are quieter than the street facing rooms as you mentioned but at the same time you are steps away from all the excitement of Bourbon Street. We look forward to having you back as our guest in the future!

It's one thing to be glared at by the weird mustache man who wants to make sure you see he has a gun and that he does not appreciate you being there and did you see he has a gun? Because he has a gun. Do other hotels have weird angry dudes with guns and angry eyes? No they do not! If they do they do not make a point of you knowing it! I see the contempt in his eyes. And I am afraid of his gun. So he wins. I resolve to not stay there again, because guns. It was scary!

BUT THEN this angry man in a beige suit descends upon me as I'm entering the elevator. BERATES ME. "What is your room number?" He demands. I see the look in his eyes, I know hate when I see it. "What is your name?" People are STARING at me. I'm shaking. I am humiliated. So he wins too. "Sam Edwards. Room 454." I don't know what is happening. The look this dude gave me was CHILLING. I felt bullied.

"OK Mister Edwards, you need to have a shirt on at all times." I know between-the-lines homophobia when it's being imposed on me. And this at the official host hotel of Southern Decadence? There is a new Southern Decadence dress code in effect! Shirts on AT ALL TIMES! Does this mean in the pool? From the look crazy-eyes gun dude gave me I do not want to test it!

The shame of it is that besides the contemptuous gunman and the hateful manager on duty (thursday 8/28, caucasian, beige suit) every other employee was beyond nice. Everyone else was welcoming and professional and wanted to bend over backwards to make me feel at home. But they couldn't undo this traumatic experience. Its a shame a bully manager and a guy who makes you see that he has a gun for a living and also that he does not care for you ruined the stay. A great team of very professionals ruined by two bad apples.

NOT COOL Bourbon Orleans. Even if you want to impose a shirts-on at all times policy, there is a way to go about it WITHOUT SCARING PEOPLE AND HUMILIATING THEM WITH A SCENE. If you need an armed guard, get one with a concealed carry permit who doesn't have something to prove, especially by staring at gays.

I will not be bullied by a hotel I spent over $1600 to spend a week at again.

Upon researching your comments regarding your visit to our hotel during Southern Decadence 2013, we apologize for your experience. It is unfortunate that our additional security designed to ensure all our guests a safe environment, served in this case to alarm you. Please know our intentions were only to ensure all our guests a safe and secure environment during this high volume event. Regarding our dress code policy, it has always been a requirement that all our guests, regardless of the time of year, wear shirts and shoes in our lobby along with the appropriate attire. Again, realizing perception is reality, I am certain our management team might have conveyed this requirement with a little more diplomacy. Thank you for your additional comments about our staff being professional and welcoming as we certainly work hard to create an atmosphere at the hotel that is authentic from both a service and product standpoint. We thank you for your comments and we hope to serve you in the future.

This is such an elegant hotel, with the New Orleans ambiance intact. Everyone of the staff that we had contact with were courteous and helpful. We love the pool area, which is in a quaint courtyard that secludes you from business and traffic, and offers an intimate and private experience. We booked a package deal, which included a free welcome drink from the bar, free parking ($30.00 value) and free hot breakfast at the buffet ($30.00 value for two), which we were quite pleased with. The rooms are modern, the bedding so clean and crisp, so comfortable to lay back in and surf the web from my room. The bar is at the corner of Bourbon Street and Orleans, so you can actually sit inside, be comfortable with a nice drink, and watch the antics that go on out on the street from large windows!! We love this hotel!!

Room Tip: The rooms we have stayed in are not large rooms, but are well planned and comfortable.
