We recently stayed in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel. It was a nice hotel that is located behind the St. Louis Cathedral on Orleans St. You are just a block from Bourbon St. and all the riverfront activities. My only complaint was the breakfast buffet was not very good but you are only 2 blocks from Cafe du Monde and wonderful beignets.

Room Tip: Also make sure to request an inside room facing the pool area instead the street.

Shower control on opposite wall from shower head (5 feet away). No grab bar inside shower enclosure, slick tile floor (no mat) and slick walls. Scarry! A law suit waiting to happen. We support the green initiative (used the same sheets for the whole stay) but soiled towels left on the floor for replacement were refolded and put back on the rack (they were damp and stained) - disgusting! Only access to pool via ladders - no steps, impossible for anyone with a physical limitation. Wired Internet access did not work, had to use unsecured wireless. Our email account was hacked while there. NO POWER OUTLET at desk for a computer! None of the usual table and comfortable chair despite the large size of the room. Closet was huge. Great location but negatives outweighted the positives.

Room Tip: Ask for a room far away from the elevators, very noisy!

My friend and I stayed in a double room at Bourbon Orleans in October 2012 and we LOVED IT. Best experience of our entire three week 7 hotel trip.

Pros:
Location! In the heart of the French Quarter, seconds from Bourbon St, Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde as well as so many fantastic restaurants, and easy walking distance from great views of the Mississippi River.
The rooms were gorgeous, luxurious french quarter style but newly renovated and clean! So clean.
The beds. We actually asked to buy the bedding, they were that good. It was like sleeping on clouds. Sweetly scented clouds. I have never loved a bed this much. Seriously, the offer to buy the bedding still stands Bourbon Orleans. Call me.

Cons:
The air conditioning unit had leaked in our room before we checked in, so there was a patch of wet carpet, we called the front desk and they had someone come straight away, however it remained wet during our entire stay.
Room service is way overpriced and the menu is limited for vegetarians (I know, totally my fault
Don't even think of printing your tour tickets here. You have to pay to rent the computer on the lobby, which was like minimum $16 or something, then you have to pay for the pages. I felt like I was in a library. In 1992.

But still worthy of five stars, I would not stay anywhere else, I am madly in love with this place. And with the beds.

Perfectly located between the art galleries and antique shops of Royal St. and constant party atmosphere of Bourbon St. Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, even at 3:30am when we needed a super quick check out so we could catch our airport shuttle. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and really high quality linens, which is now rare in hotels. Very clean room and bathroom and plenty of fluffy towels. Cabs are easy to catch as they drive by just often enough. It's also right next to St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square...just steps from literally everything. Will definitely stay again!

Room Tip: First floor rooms are very quiet and have doors to the courtyard/pool.

Walking distance to everywhere! Bourbon Street, Preservation Hall, Jackson Square & tonnes of great restaurants. Beautiful rooms, clean and quiet. Pool was a nice treat after a long day of site seeing. Staff were polite and extremely helpful with suggestions. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Face the courtyard.
