“Convenient Location, Friendly Staff”

My wife & I took the train down to NOLA for a long weekend. I had planned to stay at the Hotel Monteleone, but when I saw that this property is owned my the same company and that room rates are half the price of the Monteleone, I decided to give this place a try. I booked an inside courtyard room with a balcony on the 2nd floor. The hotel offers a free complimentary breakfast that I would say is average. Front desk staff& bellman friendly & very helpful with directions, dinner recommendations/reservations. The room was old style decor(I don't know how else to describe it). It had double four posts beds and the first night my wife and I hardly slept as the mattress was worn out and we both kept rolling to the middle. The 2nd night we changed beds and had no problems as that mattress was obviously new. This property also has a restaurant but we didn't try it. No gym at this property, but the front desk will give you a key to the Monteleone's gym (about 4 blocks away ) that "works some times and sometimes it doesn't"; which is what happened to me, fortunately a kind lady let me into the gym the one time my key card didn't work. Note of caution: one side of this property fronts a very busy street and the other side has a fire station across the street, which might explain the more than usual number of sirens we awoke to at night.

I travel to the French Quarter at least twice a year and this was my first stay at Bienville House. I received the best service I have EVER had at any hotel. Beverly, Sarah, Lucious and Tiara went out of their way to make sure our trip was the best! Thank You So Much!!

A great find in the French Quarter of New Orleans. This boutique hotel is charming and serene for being right in the heart of the district. Easy walking throughout the district with everything handy. The inside courtyard is charming and great to spend some time outside. Breakfast is included. If you're lucky enough to get one of the rooms overlooking Decatur Street, a beautiful balcony awaits you to people and street watch!

Room Tip: The inside courtyard rooms offer a very small balcony, but the ones facing Decator Street are the be...

Great location. Close to everything, steps from the ferry, short walk to the main attractions. Nice common areas. This is an old property listed among Historic Hotels of America. Reflects the spirit of New Orleans well. Make sure you take full advantage of the lovely courtyard. beautiful plants hanging out from the balconies, nice, comfortable garden furniture. You can grab a takeout or have an adult beverage at lunch or dinner and enjoy it by the pool side if you get tired of eating out and want some quiet time.
Service is great and breakfast is as well. Great pastry and coffee.
Rooms thought are tired, need refurbishing - old fixtures, stained carpet and chipping paint. Mattresses are also old (at least my was)...

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are pretty much noisy - nothing you can do, it's the location. So bring ea...

We thought the Bienville was just wonderful. Much more spacious than the more pricey hotels. It has a beautiful courtyard and very attentive staff. Breakfast is free, which is certainly a plus and the breakfast staff is charming. Very centrally located and we will make this the go to place in New Orleans

We just got back from a week at Bienville House and I'm so glad we found this place! It is just big enough to have things you'd find at a larger higher priced FQ hotel(high end tolietries and a stunning pool and courtyard) and just small enough to have the personal service and charm of a fine boutique type place. The location was perfect for us during our trip and we walked almost everywhere we wanted to go. The couple of times we needed a cab the staff helped us out right away.
We booked a king salon and it had a balcony on the end of the inner courtyard on the N. St. Peters side. If room type is important make sure you know what your getting(it's an interesting historic property so all the rooms are different, some inner rooms don't have windows, some are on the street, some on the courtyard ect.) Our room was large, clean, quiet and comfortable and the cleaning staff(and all the staff really) was great and met every request we made all week. The only thing I could really recommend at all would be to get some new pillows. They were kind of lumpy but I honestly forgot all about it after the first night. The bed was clean and comfortable.
The front desk staff was quick and friendly checking us in and out and throughout the week we were greeted daily with smiles. They answered any and all of our questions and made us feel very welcome. We found the coffee and pastries served off the lobby in the morning more than adequate as there are lots of great places to eat close by.
We had drinks and apps one evening at Iris which is the restaurant attached to the hotel on the main floor. The food was above average and the drinks were some of the best we had the whole trip. Some nights they are closed but I recommend checking them out if you can.

Our 2nd trip to New Orleans and again we really enjoyed it. Love the French Quarter - great places to eat, great music (and most within walking distance any hotel), surrounding area is terrific and New Orleans is very welcoming to tourists. We chose Bienville House because of the location and because we like boutique hotels instead of the cookie cutter chains. We were very disappointed with the housekeeping department at Bienville House. My husband left a baseball cap hanging on the armoire in our room and didn't realize it until we were on the plane coming home (just a baseball cap but it was a Christmas gift and had never been worn). He left a voicemail for the housekeeping dept. as soon as we got home and when he received no reply he called again the next day. He was told the cap was not in the room, that no one had found it when the room was cleaned. We know that could not be true since we both saw it just before packing the suitcases on the morning of our departure. I sent an email to the general manager of the hotel but after three days still have not received a response. Very disappointed in lack of response and to the dishonesty of the employees of this hotel. This was no more than an average hotel - room was a small, balcony over courtyard was a little shabby & needed a coat of paint, towels were small and not of good quality, we had to ask twice for extra washcloths (only one in bathroom). Continental breakfast was adequate and front desk and bellhop responded to our requests. But dishonesty is something that cannot be tolerated in any hotel; guests have a right to feel that they and their possessions are safe and secure. So I do not recommend Bienville House as a good place to stay. There are many other hotels in this area so we will be finding another for our next trip.
