“Magic Mex and Margarita”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2014

We opened up with the pineapple and cilantro and traditional lime margaritas: just magic. The chips, salsa and guacamole ( made to order table side) were good as were the main dishes .It is a casual and friendly venue and service is good .Nice change after the great seafood we had during the week.

“Meow!”

We all loved our meals at El Gato Negro. The place is small but cute. The chips with salsa were excellent. The meals were very tasty. We would definitely recommend this place for families.

“Chips and Salsa so different!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

I grew up in Texas and have had almost every kind of chips and salsa possible, these were different and very good! Margaritas were wonderful, location is good, and service, food and atmosphere were fun and happy! I will go back as soon as I get a chance!

“Must have margaritas!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2014

If you are near the French Market, go all the way to the far end and hang a left. There you will find some of the best margaritas you'll ever have! Don't waste your time with sub-par drinks in the market. My husband and I both got Pineapple Cilantro, which consequently happens to be one of my most favorite flavors ever. Real cilantro, real pineapple, your choice of tequila (all silvers are the same price so go premium!). Best of all, no line and no waiting!

“Fresh and Delicious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2014

Anytime I go to the French Market I treat myself to the most delicious Pineapple Cilantro Margarita at El Gato Negro. The pineapple and cilantro are muddled together then shaken on the rocks with tequila and fresh pineapple and lime juices. So refreshing on a sultry New Orleans day. The cilantro gives it a peppery kick that works perfectly with the tart-sweet fruit juices. They will also make it without tequila but what's fun about that? Sometimes I get a Go cup and walk up to the fountain at the top of the market. Find a shady bench. Listen to the live jazz and people watch. The table side guacamole service is also a specialty of El Gato Negro worthy of mention. Made to your taste and served with warm crispy light chips paired with the margarita makes the perfect snack. If you are wandering the lower Quarter stop in. Always friendly service. Wish I was there right now.
