My husband and I have stayed in the St Philip many times and we love it! Having stayed at many hotels around town it makes you feel like you live in an french Quarter apartment! The location is centrally located therefore, no transportation is needed. The owner is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. He will send you to restaurants for great new Orleans cuisine, not at the touristy areas.

Room Tip: Any room is great. But try for a balcony room. It's nice to sit out and enjoy the energy of the French Quarter.

Beguiled as you enter a hidden treasure from top to bottom. Drinking and dining in the courtyard to romantic candlelight tete-a-tete under the stars. We were cradled and felt special in the BIG EASY - stumbling home intoxicated by the booze, sites and sounds of Jazz, this place feels like a home.

This Historic gem is modern in all the right places but yet still charming at it's core. My partner and I will be back. Look at that courtyard - it is calling your name - it spoke to me.

I've lived in New Orleans for over two years now and whenever I have friends or family come into town, I send them here. It's a quiet place with clean comfortable rooms and a great staff. It's conveniently located two blocks from the night action of Bourbon and in the heart of the French Quarter. The manager, Craig, is always helpful to my guests in assisting with great restaurants and places to see and go. By far, one of my favorite getaways in New Orleans.

The St. Philip's Apartment Hotel is a collection of ordinary apartments with sporadic hot water and threats to charge cleaning fees if your garbage is not taken downstairs before you leave. It has no particular glamor, but it has an interesting courtyard of Mardi Gras memorabilia and a very strong air conditioner. A small kitchen cuts out the need for expensive breakfasts. The bed was comfortable and the concierge was very pleasant, having no problem allowing us to print out our boarding passes the day before we left. In all the place is OK, clean, and very convenient, but certainly not luxe and quite expensive. Also it's quite noisy if the crowd in the other rooms decides to come in late.

Room Tip: If you don't mind not looking out on the busy street, very close to Bourbon St, try for for one of the rooms overlooking the courtyard.

thanks so much for your "sort of ok review" While you did a very good job detailing the negatives, lets us point out a few facts: we are much more than a collection of "ordinary" apartments. As a matter of fact we are the complete antithesis of anything "ordinary". Did you not realize your accommodations were about twice the size of an "ordinary" hotel?? did you not notice that the kitchen was not rather small,, but actually a full size, fully functioning kitchen equipped better than most home kitchens? Did you mention to anyone of our wonderful staff that you had "sporadic" hot water (no you did not). Finally, please by all means tell us how you felt "threatened" if you didnt take out your garbage?? We simply and very fairly note that any apartments left excessively dirty will be charged a cleaning fee. It is posted on a very tastefully designed note, which no one has ever found "threatening". Unfortunately these little reminders are necessary since there is now a huge contingent of guests out there who seem to feel that since they rented a a room or apt, they have full reign to completely trash a place, leave it in shambles an not suffer an consequences for their behaviour. By the way, when you were desperate to find a place to stay due to a sellout weekend, we arranged things for you at the request of a mutual friend. We all went out of our way to accommodate you and provided you with top notch accommodations and service and the best you can do is "sort of okay"??? Please next time you are in a jam and in need of last minute accommodations look elsewhere!!

Agree with nearly everyone else that this is an excellent option for staying in the French Quarter. Goods far outweight the bads.
Goods: Probably the epicenter of the the places you will want to go, if you consider Frenchman's street on your list. Feels like an oasis when you walk through the gate. Authentic NOLA experience (who wants a cookie cutter hotel room in that city?) The owners give you plenty of good advice. Can interact with other guests if you want to, without the occassionally TMI of B&Bs. Fairly priced. Works well as an extended stay apartment or a shorter stay hotel room. You feel like a local punching in the key code and walking in this cool property!
Not Always Good: Rooms can be quirky. If you require a standard type hotel room, stay elsewhere. Management office locked for extended periods (plan ahead if you need something from them). Room appointments are clean and nice, but not luxurious.

If you like your accomodations to match your city, this is a winner. If you like standardized luxury, I would make another choice._

Room Tip: Balcony rooms add that NOLA touch, but can be noisier.
