If you want to have an authentic New Orleans experience and feel at home while you do it, I strongly encourage you to spend a few days at the House of the Rising Sun in Algiers Point. It's only blocks away from the short ferry ride to the Downtown New Orleans and the French Quarter.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the House of the Rising Sun for a number of weekends over the past few months. We were living in Baton Rouge at the time and purchased a home in the Algiers Point neighborhood. One of my cousin's had recently spent a night at the House of the Rising Sun and said we should look into staying here. Kevin and Wendy were great hosts, they knew the ins and outs of New Orleans and offered us great recommendations on where to eat and find live music. Kevin also shared some of Algiers Point's history with us, as he is also President of the Algiers Historical Society. We had the most fun staying in the Algiers Point neighborhood and having a few pints at the local English Pub (The Crown and Anchor) and dining at Vine n Dine (local wine bar and bistro).

That first weekend was so much fun (yes, we did work on and check out our home renovations too) every time we returned to New Orleans to check on our house we booked the weekend at the House of the Rising Sun! (www.risingsunbnb.com) If your traveling and looking for an authentic New Orleans experience look no further than the House of the Rising Sun!

We were there 6 nights for Jazz fest. Accomadations were authentic. Kevin was great. Liked the small neighborhood feel of Algiers point. Would highly recommend. The whole New Orleans experience is excellent and we intend to return again and again.

Our third stay at the House for JazzFest and it just gets better. Kevin and Wendy are wonderful hosts and it's become like a second home for us.
The nearby Algiers ferry is an easy link to the Quarter and a pleasant way to travel. There was a cloud over the future of the service but it now looks like it will be retained, although it may not be free to pedestrians any more. Free or not, it's worth it to be away from the noise of the quarter but still conveniently located.
Getting to the Fest was a breeze on the Canal St tram.
Highly recommended.

My new wife and I stayed with Kevin for the first 3 days of our honeymoon trip to NOLA. We found him here, on TripAdvisor. What everyone says is true; very nice rooms, very comfortable. Kevin had great advice on where to eat, what to see, and was quite helpful in general. We'd definitely stay with them again.

My girlfriend and I (20s couple) stayed at House of the Rising sun the week before Jazz fest (apr 19 - 23) and really had a lovely time. Kevin was a fantastic host -- most knowledgable about the great places to eat and see music -- he recommended Frenchmen St for music, and it pretty much ended up being where we spent our whole trip -- an absolutely amazing scene. House of the Rising Sun is just across the river from the French Quarters in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood. It's just a few blocks from the free passenger ferry that runs every half hour, so you're really only minutes away from the rest of the city. But for the peacefulness of the nighttime to get a good night's rest, this is the place you want to be. We looked forward to our delicious breakfast every morning. It's overall just a very cozy, comfortable, hospitable, friendly environment in a lovely neighborhood and I would certainly recommend this to any couples staying in New Orleans for any length of time!

Discovered this great little B&B in Algiers Point. Didn't realize how close it was to everything. Neighborhood had lots of charm, even a British pub! Hosts were terrific, knowledgeable, and friendly. We were out and about each day until bedtime, but could have enjoyed ourselves with their books and music library. Lots of helpful tips on how to do Jazz Fest, as well as general New Orleans info...like where to get the best Sazarac! Comfortable and clean. Healthy breakfast, friendly dog. Would consider staying there again ,if we ever return to New Orleans, and why wouldn't we. Mike and Joanne Boston

I had a great stay at the House of the Rising Sun B&B - just a 5 minute ferry ride away from New Orleans. I was there for a conference. The B&B was very convenient, clean, comfortable, and the owners (Kevin and Wendy) were super nice and extremely hospitable. Breakfast was very good. Kevin shared some great tips for enjoying New Orleans as well as the Algiers area. As a person who appreciates good beer on tap, I sure enjoyed the evening at the Crown and Anchor pub down the street from the B&B (Kevin's suggestion). The folks at the pub are friendly and fun. There was a Dr. Who party that night. I can't wait to go back and bring my wife.

Thanks Kevin!
