“Historic B&B in Algiers point”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

We stayed at the House of the Rising Sun for four nights back in January and were delighted with our choice.
The location was great, away from the main tourist throng but still close to everything.
Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable with a full bathroom.
Kevin gave us plenty of recommendations and suggestions concerning places to visit and good value restaurants. One of our favorites was Mona Lisa's.
We would certainly recommend this B&B to friends coming to New Orleans
Wishing you both, Kevin and Wendy, continuing success in your project.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of February as part of a road trip, Kevin and Boudin were very welcoming, our room was spacious and nicely decorated, the communal rooms, had everything you would have at home, and more, an excellent choice highly recommended and good location. Thank you !

Kevin and Wendy were gracious hosts and their home is clean, comfortable and attractive. Our short stay in the King room was nice and the bathroom down the hall was no inconvenience at all. We have roamed around Algiers before but took this opportunity to explore a bit more fully. We lunched at the Dry Dock and had dinner at Vine and Dine, both places were great. We enjoyed Gal Holiday at Old Point Bar later that evening, you could tell this is a spot frequented by locals-very friendly. The ferry is so convenient that we were also able to catch an early evening show in the Quarter. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast too. Highly recommend this great B&B.

What a fantastic little place this is, nestled away from the rush of downtown NO, in the peaceful area of Algiers. The house and it's contents ooze charm and character, and the main lounge area tells a story of the owners roots, interests and influences, focusing on a real passion for music, particularly the blues genre. Our room was the Queen, really homely and comfortable, with wooden floorboards and a lovely comfortable bed which invited blissful sleep after some hard partying downtown! The breakfasts are great, wholesome and plentiful, and we enjoyed sitting in the dining area with the other guests, alongside Kevin, who is a great storyteller and very knowledgeable of places to visit in the city. The Trip Advisor accolade of best B&B in NO is no accident, it really is a gem of a place to stay and would be my number one choice of accommodation again, without hesitation.

My husband and I just returned from an anniversary celebration in NOL, staying with Kevin and Wendy at their little b&b. When you initially enter, the eclectic tastes and personalities of the owners is immediately apparent. There are buddha statues, family pictures, music paraphernalia, posters, a Japanese kimono, just about anything you could think of on the walls or shelves of this charming place. Kevin is a character, low key, British, humorous. His wife, Wendy, I felt instantly connected to, and it was interesting to hear her carefully neutralized dialect slip into NOL speak while talking to a local on the phone. They were both very helpful with suggestions and served a nice European breakfast every morning. One note: if you have a handicap, be sure and get the room with the bath in it. Ours was down the hall which presented a small challenge to me with a disability. I really recommend a stay here.

Just across the river from the centre of town - this B&B is a delightful, peaceful oasis. Including use of front & rear porches and well equipped lounge.

Accessed by the ferry, (free to foot passengers and $1 for vehicles), this B&B is in the superior segment.

Kevin & Wendy stay abreast of events and amenities in NO, helping guests make the best of their stay.

Algiers Point is worthy of viewing too, with several choices for refreshment, musical instruments, and superb handmade glass items.

We changed the dates of our visit so that we could stay at a b&b with good reviews and we were not disappointed! We enjoyed our host and the other guests we met over breakfast and Boudin was great as well.

Our room was clean and very comfortable. We had the king room and the separate bathroom was not an issue at all.

The location worked out even better than expected. The ferry ride was a nice transition from the hustle and bustle of the French quarter. The Algiers neighborhood was quiet and quaint. A late night dinner at the dry dock made for an easy and tasty convenient option.

Thanks to Kevin and thanks to the past reviewers for the advice!
