Outstanding B&B: lovely property, lovely suite, charming hosts, gourmet breakfasts. The evening we arrived Pat drove us to the Jazz Festival then wrapping up on the other side of the French Quarter. Their advice on where to eat and what to avoid were very helpful.

After having read some of the reviews on the web I decided to spend some time at Ashton's B&B at the end of august this year. I expected a lot as far as hospitality and atmosphere are concerned - and my expectations got exceeded: It's a wonderful house with comfortable and elegant rooms. But the best about Ashton's is the owners who run the house. Both, Patrick and Karma, are very obliging and helpful. They know a lot about their home town and can give you good advices about where to go and what to do. Of course, it's not situated in the center of the French Quarter. But this seems to be rather an advantage, at least to me. Taxis are available at all times and will pick you up within minutes after a call. To sum up: Ashton's B&B is a place I can highly recommend!

We highly recommend Ashtons. Patrick and Karma were very friendly and more than helpful. Their home is beautiful, immaculate and very comfortable. Aveda bath products too...top notch!

The breakfast provided each morning is sheer bliss.

We were sad to leave. I've never felt more welcomed and taken care of. Patrick and Karma made sure we got a good taste of ALL New Orleans had to offer.

Don't miss staying here!

Thank you Patrick and Karma for a wonderful trip.

We stayed in room number eight -- the one with the big bathtub -- and had a great time. Patrick's breakfasts are amazing. Tasty, creative, and very filling!

Patrick and Karma also are excellent sources of advice on what to see (and not see) in New Orleans. Be sure to ask Patrick for where to eat and what to order.

Don't be concerned about the location. We enjoyed the fact that it was quiet and it is worth walking up and down Esplanade at least once to look at the architecture. The taxi service is much cheaper than in other cities, and the United Cab company recommended by Ashton's was extremely efficient and prompt.

For cat lovers, we recommend to your attention Leon the porch kitty. He loves people and will keep you company while you're relaxing under the shad of the 300 year oak tree that spans the Ashton's porch.

Stayed at Ashton's recently and was stunned by the poor appointments and the decor. Never have I stayed at a B & B that utilized veneered wood furnishings and tacky knick-knacks as a decorating style. The exterior of the house was poorly maintained, with gaping holes in the porch, covered by a doormat and VERY slippery steps that were an accident waiting to happen. The yard was poorly landscaped and many dead and dying geraniums were scattered about. The entire house had none of the terrific tropical lushness one would associate with the Big Easy. Instead, it felt as if you were at your maiden aunts for the weekend and she needed your help to keep things up. The only things really missing were tons of stray cats (I forgot, there was one very irritating stray cat on the premises).

The innkeepers were not accomodating to our needs. Some members of our group were unable to arrive until 9 p.m. the evening of check-in and the innkeepers were very irritated by this. They were curt to our party about this inconvenience and stated repeatedly that they needed to get to bed earlier (7 p.m.) because they woke very early each morning. Hello, this is their chosen career, CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Their solution to this dilemma was to give the room keys to other guests who were then responsible for locating the late guests and essentially checking them in, instead of enjoying a family wedding rehearsal dinner.

If you expect any unexpected events during your stay, this is not the place for you! If you prefer authentic antiques and a well-appointed house, this is not for you. If you enjoy beautiful surroundings, this is not for you. If you like feeling welcomed and appreciated, this is not for you.

We stayed at AShton's last month and it was very clean, which was appreciated, but expected for a B&B at that price level. The strangest thing about the establishment was the use of tiny unrefrigerated creamers (mini-moos) instead of fresh cream or milk for the coffee. The coffee was terrific and the big pottery mugs were great, but it was irritating to have to open LOTS of those tiny little creamers found at convenience stores to get enough cream in your coffee each morning. When you asked for milk, just to make it easier, you recieved a tiny thimbleful of milk. Very weird! I am aware of rising dairy prices, but this inconvenience is so easily remedied.

We stayed at Ashton's B&B from the 28th of August until the 2nd of September and were more than pleasantly surprised with what we found. Being 'hotel people', we were a bit reluctant to book a B&B. We love being anonymous, hate to intrude and hence tend to not choose a B&B as a place to stay. Having read so many good reviews and seeing the pictures of some of the rooms, we decided to give Ashton's the benefit of the doubt...

And what did we find? Excellence from beginning to end. Detailed instructions on how to find the B&B, a perfect non-intrusive way of getting access to your room after 'business hours', a beautiful and exceptionally clean room (Room 8, the Charpentier simply has the best bathroom ever encountered anywhere), airco with remote control...

And then there was breakfast... not your usual breakfast but a daily changing culinary treat without comparison. Excellent combinations, beautifully laid out... (Did we mention the 'Banana foster waffle' delight that we found on our first day yet?)...

So much to mention... free wireless internet, cooking advice, great tips on where to go for dinner, tips on what to visit, which tours to take etcetera. Every tip proved to be 110% worthwhile.

The best thing is, we truly felt at home. Never ever did we feel we were intruding or taking up too much time of the innkeeper. We sincerely feel that he did everything he could to make our New Orleans visit as perfect as possible, not only for as far as our stay in the B&B went but simply everything. It was a perfect start to our holiday and Ashton's was by far the best place we stayed in during our three week visit to Louisiana and Florida.

If you feel that this almost sounds too good to be true, well... try it out. You may just find yourself in Banana Foster Waffle Paradise during your first breakfast... I'll tell you... it's worth the gamble, and basically... you can't loose...
