We have just returned from 13 nights in NO at this hotel - we truly feel comfortable and at home when we are there. The people are friendly and we love our room. The perfect place for us. Two blocks to Deanies Seafood and the French Quarter......if we could we would spend a month there - that's how much we love it!!

Room Tip: Room 401 is a corner room - and we also like room 403 - but this is the city so expect noise....

We booked for the Essence Festival at this location and decided to stay the entire week. We had a studio which tightly accommodated 4 adults. There was a king size bed, queen sleeper sofa, and partial kitchen. The kitchen included a two burner stove, mini refrigerator and microwave. The kitchen was stocked with the basics and sufficient. The room includes an upgraded television with cable. For the most part, the room was clean and well-maintained. We had an abundance of towels for 4 and housekeeping checked on us at least 3 times during the week. We never saw any others staying at the hotel on our way in or out the entire time we stayed. We were on the 4th floor overlooking the intersection of Canal Street and University Place. It was a bit difficult to find because the place has no signs. It is located right next door to Roosevelt Hotel across the street from Voodoo Mart right before crossing Canal (if you come up west along University Place Street). We eventually had to just get out of the car and walk along because the GPS kept saying it was nearby. We happened to pass a very indistinct door and catch a person's attention inside who informed us this was the place. Check in was quick and efficient. The front desk helped out with places to eat, identified what was in walking distance, etc. For the most part, we didn't need our car and chose to park in a garage. Since it was festival time, the garages were around $25 a day and went down to $15 afterwards. We were within walking distance of Bourbon Street, WWII museum, art galleries, Superdome, Audobon Zoo, and everything else in the French Quarter. There is a trolly that runs directly along Canal and in front of the hotel that I was told only cost a few dollars. The area has quite a mix of people walking (locals, panhandlers, etc.) about so although there were times I walked alone to nearby places I always felt more comfortable walking with others. Overall, the place was nice and I would stay again if given the opportunity. This is quite simply a place to lay your head and nothing else.

We stayed for a week as a timeshare trade. Room 401 is a corner studio overlooking Canal Street. The only drawback was being near Tulane Medical Center because ambulance sirens were heard all night. The room itself was comfortable and well appointed. The folks at the desk were always helpful and friendly. Bed was a little soft for my liking but my wife liked it.

We stayed during MLK week January 2012. Absolutely loved the Pierre Lafitte. We are adults who love the Quarter, and this was perfect for us. NOT a fancy high end hotel with butler and pool, but what we loved were the people and location. George and Derrick were there lots of the time and were there for us, and their cellphone is posted when the desk is closed. Marlene called us ahead of time and guided us with taxi recommendations and answers. This is NOT a five star hoity-toity hotel with butlers and pool. No restaurant either, but who would go to New Orleans to eat in the hotel's restaurant anyway!? What it is is four story historical building which they are renovating with love, and with the class of lovely old furniture, credenzas and chiseled mirrors, there was a very clean unit for us with remodeled/painted clean-smelling nonsmoking rooms, comfortable beds. We felt very, very safe there, and there is an elevator. Not a full service kitchen, but what we wanted was there, microwave, middle sized small fridge, coffee pot, but no oven. But who cooks when they are dining out in NOLA?
We could look out our windows onto Canal St and see the parades! (But you also hear sirens at night if you are light sleeper). Nice was that there is a McDonald's beside the Maison, so my husband could run down daily and bring up coffee or yogurt while we lounged :) There is only ONE bathroom in the unit. Derrick directed us to Deanies, two blocks away, for our first dinner, and it was a home run. Those guys love the place, love the city, and want you to love it too. They work hard to make it clean so no unwanted visitors! We saw not one pest the whole week, and I am always looking! The Maison is not perfect, but it was PERFECT for us, and I recommend it and hope to return:) PS....the front entrance is NEXT to the Roosevelt Hotel, but rather subtle. Look for the street number 108!

Room Tip: We were in room 300B which has two bedrooms, just one bathroom. The inside room has no windows and i...

We stayed here for just a quick 5 day trip. The staff is a bit on the laid-back side, however; we got into our room prior to the check-in time (always nice when that happens!) I would not recommend this place if you are on the picky side - but we embraced the funkiness and it did not ruin our trip. The front desk is not always open, and there is no 'business center' -- just a computer to use that is perched on one side of the front desk - but remember: front desk not always open. We found the period furniture charming, the bathroom was newly remodeled and clean. The kitchenette was nice, appliances new and again: very clean. The little bar next door was super charming, affordable, and had great music playing all the time.

Room Tip: Top floors (3 & 4), corner room on the 4th floor nice

We loved this place....the Owner and front desk staff were very friendly. We stayed 7 nights but would have stayed longer if they had the space. We were on the 4th floor and it was lovely - this is an older building - and furnishings are not modern....but it was charming and cozy and we were so settled in....that we hated to leave! There was no food service but a cute little bar next door run by some great people and seem to have the best female bartenders in the city! My husband and I stopped in to see them several times during our stay and even they made us feel very welcome! We can't wait to go to NOLA again and when we do we hope they have room for us. We have stayed at several hotels in NOLA but never felt "at home" like we did here. Our trip was during Christmas and NY's.

Room Tip: Two blocks from French Quarter and two blocks from St. Charles streetcar. Canal Streetcar is less t...
