“Nice experience all around, great service”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

We stopped in here for a quick bite before leaving town. We ate in the courtyard, which could use a little sprucing up, but it had a shabby charm. Our waiter was charming and provided good service. The food here wasn't fine dining, but it was very good with large portions. Two shared the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They were very good, but are advertised as chips and, as far as I can tell, were just regular fried green tomatoes. We also shared a sausage po' boy, which was great. I was worried the sausage would be too spicy, but it had just the right amount of heat. We were so disappointed they were out of bread pudding, but our waiter asked the kitchen staff and Joe called over to another restaurant, where they were waiting for us and served us an great bread pudding. Now, that is service!

I am delighted that you had such a great experience during your visit to Chartres House. It pleases me when I hear that my staff went above and beyond to ensure you got the dessert you wanted even if it wasn't with us. On another note, I hope you will be delighted to know that we took your review to heart & spruced up our courtyard. Step one is complete with all new plants. The next thing we are working on is new lighting & decor. Hopefully when you return you can join us again & enjoy our improvements. Best wishes.

“Great Location and Excellent Food”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

We wanted a restaurant that had outdoor dining on the balcony and this was the place! Although they were very busy we waited only 10 minutes to be seated. We enjoyed a drink while waiting at the well stocked bar. We had the fried green tomato chips to start and they were excellent. For meals we had the shrimp po-boy and the angus burger, again both were very tasty. Our server was Brandi who was great. And of course sitting outside watching the people down below was very entertaining, including the street serenading from the wandering entertainer. Highly recommend stopping here.

We take great pride in the enjoyment of our guests. I'm glad you had the whole New Orleans style experience on our balcony. Many often miss out on such an experience with the belief that only dining on Bourbon Street balconies are fun. As your reveiw suggests, the sights and sounds above Chartres Street are just as amazing.

“Great place and good fun”
Reviewed March 27, 2014 via mobile

We were a bit apprehensive as we thought this place might have been too touristy but even if it was, the food and service were quite good. New Orleans is the place to eat food that's bad for you and we were able to accomplish that here with Fried Green Tomatoes, Rice and Beans, and a Po Boy Sandwich. Delicious!

As an aside, we left our credit card there but when we called them the next day, it was safely secured by them; no damage done. So you can also say they are honest. Well done!

“Good Food and Great Location!”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

The Chartres House was good service and good food. I ordered the Cajun Blackened Chicken Alfredo pasta and it was tasty - all in all the best part of this restaurant is the location and the open door concept where you can people watch and see what is going on outside on the streets. The prices were reasonable and the rest of the menu looked great too if you want to try various New Orleans southern dishes.

“Excellent New Orleans fare!”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

This is really becoming one of our favorite places to eat in New Orleans. Really enjoy being able to sit at a table near a window/door and people watch. Food is outstanding and very reasonably priced for the Quarter. The fried green tomatoes and crawfish bread are always outstanding appetizers, and the red beans and rice with sausage and chicken strips we had this time were unique and tasty.
