So much I could report from our four day experience. This hotel is Exhibit A when it comes to a boutique hotel. Cool reception area with funky furniture and art. The staff is fun perhaps a bit too familiar but just barely on the side of appropriate. Rooms are all differently laid out with unique features in each (we had four for our family and, in fact, were taken to a room when checking in that was already occupied)! Not sure how well the staff is trained but they all seem to be having a good time. Valet parking is a challenge as there were a few times when we tried to valet but the parking spaces in front of the hotel were taken AND their valet person was not available! The responses we got from reception were along the lines of "no problem, just come back in a little bit." Not a great answer and the end result was we public parked the car a couple blocks away. Aside from this frustration and that the hotel has no restaurant (not a big deal if you know this ahead of time), staying here puts a guest with walking distance to just abut anything one could want in the French Quarter or downtown. Additionally, the staff and setting make it almost impossible to have anything less than a fun and eventful stay.

We booked the room only 24 hours in advance. I believe there were only 2 rooms left. The valet parking was very convenient (there is a bit of a charge). The staff was very friendly. Our room wasnt ready when we first got here (2:40pm), but they took our bags, stored them and took them to our room when it was ready, freeing us from lugging around our bags until the room was ready. After cracking up because we couldn't find our room through the maze of hallways, we finally found our room. We assumed it was a normal room with funky decor and wow were we wrong. Our "room" was a cooky 1 bedroom apartment! Very rustic. Exposed beams. Full kitchen, including dishwasher, wine fridge and even a blender. 1 1/2 bathrooms. An upsidown chair hanging from the ceiling in the large livingroom, which has an attached diningroom. Needless to say, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. We are curious if the other rooms are this cool. Oh..only 3 blocks from Bourbon Street!

We picked the busiest weeks to visit New Orleans and left finding accommodation to the last minute. A mistake. But through various means we ended up staying at Club La Pension at the edge of the French Quarter, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation.

Our one-bed apartment came complete with galley kitchen, good size rooms, an ENORMOUS shower, and a comfortable bed. Unfortunately we had no view (a wall), and the room was a little dark, but at least we had peace and quiet away from Canal Street. And the blackout blinds in the bedroom were awesome, meaning we had no trouble sleeping!

The staff were courteous and helpful, when we needed them. Check in was easy, and they had no problem ordering a taxi in the early hours of the morning.

Coffee, tea and water in the lobby in the mornings was a nice touch.

Only downside were the confusing lighting system in the room: multiple switches, and not enough lamps!

Room Tip: A room at the back may be dark, but it will be quieter.

We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay. The people working here are superb - wonderful service and very friendly. Part of the seven buildings that make up this maze of hallways and steps were built in 1792. I am sure that explains why at times water would not be very hot or very cold. It was rather dark in our rooms but we were on the top floor with only dormer windows as in the traditional NO style. We came to appreciate that this was part of NO and not like home - we didn't want to be at home when we were in New Orleans so we were fine with that. Everything was very clean, great appliances and the pillows were fantastic! I would definitely stay here again. Great location too.

Room Tip: We had air conditioners right outside our room but they didn't keep us from sleeping and did blo...

My wife and I traveled to New Orleans in late February. We arrived at Club La Pension very late because our flight landed at 10:30 PM that evening. We were greeted at Club La Pension with a warm smile and Southern hospitality. Check in was a breeze and we were pleasantly surprised with our room. Very nice.

The rooms are very clean, the place is more like a fine boutique hotel than a resort. Very nicely decorated and comfortable. The location is great as well, we found there is no need to rent a car. There is so much to do within a few blocks that we walked wherever we needed to go.

Club La Pension is very close to shopping on Canal Street, close the river, great eating like Huck Finn's three doors down, and yet just a few blocks from all the art galleries, shops and other attractions the French Quarter has to offer.

If I had any complant and the resort can't help this, is the street noise. It is in a busy part of town with lots of activity at all hours of the day.

We have already planned another trip and most definitely will be staying at Club La Pension again.

Thank you to the staff and Bluegreen! Another great vacation.

Loved everything about this hotel. We had several issues with booking during a very busy convention week. The staff there went out of their way to help accomodate our every need with a smile. The location is safe and central to everything fun in NOLA. The restaurant next to the hotel is amazing and the hotel/rooms are gorgeous. Very funky and whimsical~ We had a great view off our balcony onto Decatur Street with beautiful flowers, comfortable furniture and a super cool roof deck. The rooms are somewhat difficult to locate, as there are many hallways and doorways connected in strange ways, but that is just one quirky New Orleans trait...that's what you get when you stay at this resort. It is NOT a cookie cutter hotel. I cannot wait until our next trip back. We will for sure be staying here again. Also, the room was a tad noisy, but the manager called ahead and asked us about the noise issue, as she knew that my husband was there for a work convention. How sweet is that? We heard a few car horns and laughter outside from the street, but certainly nothing that we couldn't sleep through. Can't wait to return :) Happy place, indeed!

Room Tip: Get a room overloooking Decatur St with a balcony! Beautiful...

We are BlueGreen Travel Club members who used our "points" for a recent stay at Club La Pension. We shared a one bedroom unit in the back of the building - at first we were disappointed to not have a view or balcony - but discovered the front units facing Decatur St. are noisy and less desirable. The location is an easy walk to everything like the Vieux Carre, streetcars, the CBD. The staff are outstanding! Helpful and nice about it. The shower is large with ample hot water. They also have secure door locks on the outside of the building so "strangers" cannot wander into the lobby area. The only drawback to our room was there only were two little windows placed low on the exposed brick wall - made the room dark and a little claustrophobic. We adjusted and found it great for sleeping in the afternoon! Quiet and dark enough to get that catnap before a night out on Frenchman Street!

Room Tip: You may opt for a room facing away from Decatur so you get a quiet sleep environment.
