Nice to see the city from the other side, but the ferry was dirty and seemed to be a hang out for some.

The ferry ride was fun especially for free. It left on time and gave us a new view of Nola. Be sure and take your camera. The ferry docks on the other side across from the cathedral...great photo opportunity.

Canal Street is a very nice area. At one end is the river and ferry which one may ride both ways free. The street has many hotels, restaurants and stores, and is well lit. You may ride a trolley as well. It is very inexpensive, only $3 to hop on and off all day!

I can be a cheap traveler (that's being honest), so frankly, this is the best bargain you'll get in what's not really an expensive city to travel in anyhow - because its free! This is a great way to end the afternoon, getting on the boat on time to see the sunset, you can stand outside and get some great shots or just enjoy the view of the NOLA skyline. Algiers Point is on the other side, which despite recommendations from everywhere to go on a walking tour, in five minutes we realized there was nothing there to see or do, so back in line we were to enjoy the night skyline.

I like most things that are free. A great opportunity to ride on the Mississippi and see the Riverfront from the other side of the river. Give yourself an hour for the wait, and the trip there and back. Not much to see in Algiers. Apparently only 2 restaurants there, so be prepared.
