“Was very pleased with the Burgundy B & B. Comfortable, nice location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

What I liked was that I felt comfortable. The location is great to get out of the craziness and enjoy the quaint neighborhood and some excellent little dining/bars nearby. It's not overly fancy and to me that made me feel more at home. We were able to use the fridge and kitchen supplies and enjoyed the hot tub on the back patio. Carl was a pleasant host and willing to answer any questions while at the same time wasn't intrusive. As it has been many years since I have stayed in a B & B, this reminds me why I need to do it more frequently, and New Orleans is a great place for this type of alternative. The 15 minute walk to the French Quarter was enjoyable. Definitely recommend. And make sure you eat at Mimi's- Go upstairs to the Tapas Bar.

Room Tip: Request the burgundy room if you want private access to the hot tub.

And Carl helped us a lot for that.
The Burgundy is a nice house where to stay. He was helpful and answered all our questions, even helping with private stuff when he could.
The position is great: 10 minutes from Frenchmen Str, 15 min from the French quarter means being close to the life of NOLA, but far away from noise and music (I couldn't think of sleeping close to Burboun St.!)
Carl could also rent us two bikes which were a very good way to go around the city.
We slept wonderfully in the Green Room (the Coral Room was slightly less comfortable for us, as the mattress is very soft).
The breakfast was always plentiful and tasty, also Carl would always sit and chit-chat and provide whatever info or food necessary.
We simply had a wonderful time here. And if you need anything, just ask Carl!

Great place to stay! Carl is most helpful in pointing out things to do and he helps even make reservations for certain things for you at a discounted price!
We looked for a gay B&B with a jacuzzi and this place was wonderful.
We used 2 different rooms and both were very enjoyable rooms with private bathroom, tv and enough space (you won't feel cramped in these rooms)
Nice friendly neighborhood as well and an easy 15/20 minute walk to the. French quarter of New Oleans.
We would def. recommend this B&B and would be happy to return there!

B and B's are about the experience, and ours was a very positive one I must say.
House is convenient to the FQ, and well maintained. Host Carl was friendly enough.
Had use of a kitchen - with fridge, sink, coffee maker, etc.
Access to bikes, and a hot tub (we used neither actually).
Biggest plus was the FREE PARKING for 5 nights.
Room was OK - it's an old house, so don't expect the MGM Grand here. Could have used a woman's touch I think - ya know, to maybe change the shower curtains when they start to turn a yellowish hue...
Only downer was the breakfast. Would it kill the new gen of B and Ber's to scramble a few eggs once in a while??? Bunch of cereal, white bread bagels, and packaged croissants we could nuke.
Anyway, enjoyed the stay overall.

Room Tip: Try not to get the room off the kitchen. Although folks aren't supposed to eat until 9am, they...

The Burgundy is in a quiet neighborhood, but still just a short walk from the music of Frenchman Street and a little farther (about 20 minutes) from the heart of the French Quarter. The rooms were neat and clean, the beds comfortable. Carl, the innkeeper, was fantastic. He never tired of my questions about the area and was always on the mark with his dining/sightseeing suggestions. He also makes the best cup of chicory coffee I had while in town!

Room Tip: Green room is further away from the breakfast room if you're a late sleeper. The Blue Room is t...

Spent 4 wonderful days in the month of March on Spring Break with the hubby and son. The Burgundy was a fabulous place to stay. It felt like home and Carl was the perfect innkeeper. He gave us advice on where to go, eat, shop, tour, etc. The other guest were enjoyable to talk to during breakfast and they, too, gave advice. The breakfast Carl provided was great. We also, stored food in the freezer (you definitely can't do that at a hotel). We left our car parked on the street without any worries. We enjoyed the walk from The Burgundy to the French Quarter. The neighborhood was pleasant and safe (no worries). We have returned home and already we miss New Orleans and Carl hospitality. When we return to New Orleans, we will definitely stay at The Burgundy Bed and Breakfast. Thanks Carl, for the wonderful memories....smooches!!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Green Room...queen bed and day bed....shower...loved it

Spent a few days here in October - returned this time for a week - had another great stay here - the last time i was so busy running around daft, with all the tours that i'd booked in advance, that i seldom spent much time at the Burgundy...this time, i was able to relax and pace myself...so i enjoyed breakfast, speaking with other residents, now new friends, and Carl - what a font of knowledge about his beloved NOLA and lovely gentleman to boot...he assisted me in booking a swamp tour and plantation tour...and gave advice about the best happy hours around town...

Regarding all the criticism about the non-cooked breakfast - it is ILLEGAL for bed and breakfasts to offer cooked breakfast, according to local laws...each morning, i enjoyed a toasted muffin with butter, fresh cantaloupe, pineapple and strawberries, fresh orange juice and fresh coffee...also available were bagels, bread, jams, bananas, grapes, cereal, tea...i was happily full but not over-stuffed...

Already thinking about my return trip - see my earlier review for full details on the property itself...

Room Tip: the coral room is perfect for a single or a loving couple...
