Description: Cochon captures the true essence of Cajun and Southern cooking. Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski bring their love for southern Louisiana foods to every plate at Cochon. Donald's experience cooking with his family at their homes in Crowley and Rayne allow guests to share in his passion for real country and home cooking. The food is focused and simple, featuring roasted meats with natural sauces, homemade sausages, and fresh local seafood. The menu compliments the rustic, yet contemporary setting of the dining room. The Bar at Cochon features signature cocktails as well as the classic libations of New Orleans. A diverse beer selection with an emphasis on local micro-brews offers a cool contrast with the sometimes spicy cuisine.

Came to Cochon Butcher with friends and we all got something different so we could share. The muffaletta was huge- and delicous! Also got to try the pork belly and blt. Well worth the walk from the french quarter!

“Contemporary NOLA cuisine”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We were here over the Superbowl weekend and the lines were CRAZY long.
We had a great dinner at Cochon, so when Saturday rolled around and we wanted to grab some lunch, we thought about checking out Cochon Butcher.
Evidently, so did Everyone else.

The lines were out the door and spilt onto the sidewalk.
We ended up waiting in line for 40 mins and another 15 mins for our food.
But kudos to the staff, who were very discreetly but expeditiously cleaning up after ppl were done- a great way to shoo ppl out the door. (some ppl were pretty oblivious to the HUGE crowd waiting for tables

I got the pork belly sandwich: the pork belly was tasty but i really wish the bread used was better- plain white bread (toasted) is a little...elementary school and the bread was too thin for the pork belly

But overall, i like the vibe and the meats were tasty

“A very good meal”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Cochon Butcher is an informal deli/restaurant on Andrew Higgins St, south of Tchoupitoulas St. and the upscale Cochon Restaurant. The service is uninspired. The food is very good. The seating is few and crowded. The muffalleto sandwich and spicy turnips were excellent. This restaurant is a short walk from the convention center.

“Wonderful local place”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

This is a tiny place behind a little more upscale sister restaurant and we had an excellent meal. We got a charcuterie plate that was enough for two people, great brussel spouts as a side and a couple of local beers for very little. We will definitely be going back on our next visit.

“Great for a lunch time fast meal”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

My wife and I had lunch at the Butcher and will, for sure, go back again. The sWine Bar and Part Deli has a very small seating capacity but the turnover changed fairly rapidly as I suspect most of the customers were area workers - which speaks volumes for the Butcher.

It is a fun place to be a people watcher and probably 30 minutes before and after the high noon lunch hour you will find the place less busy.

I had their Gambino sandwich which was very good and served freshly made and hot. My wife had a small pizza and she liked it as well. Their beer was very cold and tasted great for the quite warm day that we were there.
