Description: Cochon captures the true essence of Cajun and Southern cooking. Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski bring their love for southern Louisiana foods to every plate at Cochon. Donald's experience cooking with his family at their homes in Crowley and Rayne allow guests to share in his passion for real country and home cooking. The food is focused and simple, featuring roasted meats with natural sauces, homemade sausages, and fresh local seafood. The menu compliments the rustic, yet contemporary setting of the dining room. The Bar at Cochon features signature cocktails as well as the classic libations of New Orleans. A diverse beer selection with an emphasis on local micro-brews offers a cool contrast with the sometimes spicy cuisine.

Waled in off the street.....ordered at the counter....incredible menu. Went with a friend and ordersed several small dishes. We had Pancetta Mac & Cheese, Pulled Pork Sliders, Pork Belly Sandwich, Tacos Carnitas, Fresh Baked Pretzels, and wrapped it it up with a piece of "grandma's" chocolate cake a a slice of warm apple pie. EVERYTHING is freshly made to order right in front of you. Ingredients are all local. Flavors are incredible. A MUST go back to before we leave NOLA!

The Cochon Butcher is a smaller casual dining version of the Cochon Restaurant located just around the corner. Orders are placed at the counter and delivered to the table indoors or outside. Great sandwiches and good prices. The muffeletta was delicious. While we were there several local residents came for take out foods. Some reviews said the lines were long but it was quiet when we went at night and we got parking right in front of the door.

You won't regret eating lunch here-- my group tried the muffaletta, the blt (i've never seen that much bacon in a sandwhich before), the pork belly (truly incredible), and the cuban. We shared all of our meals, and I must say the pork belly was my favorite, but the muffaletta was a close runner up. We also tried their praline cookies-- and they were way too rich for my cookie tastes, but also good.

We couldn't move afterwards and it took several beers to wash it all down, but I'm so glad we ate there. This place will forever be on my must visit list for future NOLA trips.

We couldn't leave New Orleans without eating a muffaletta! We'd heard that Central Grocery was the best place to get one. BUT... Central Grocery is closed on Sunday and Monday, so we were out of luck... or so we thought! On Saturday night we asked our waiter where to get the best muffaletta in town. He suggested Cochon Butcher, around the corner from the Cochon Restaurant. He said that he thought it was even better than Central Grocery. I can't speak from experience, since I haven't had one at Central Grocery, but this was AWESOME! My husband and I shared a muffaletta and the ham and cheese on a pretzel. Butcher is located near the Convention Center and was pretty crowded at lunchtime. The wait was long, but we all agreed it was worth it. Their homemade chips were great as well and the beer was cold. What more can you ask for?
