Much more interesting than Bourbon St. Some really interesting music, especially at The Spotted Cat.

To make a NYC analogy, Frenchman St is more like St Marks Place or the parts of Broadway down in Soho, Tribeca, & the Village, while Bourbon St is more like the midtown parts of Broadway in Times Square. Decide 4 yourself which you prefer.

Frenchmen Street is just a few blocks but it has great clubs and interesting restaurants. It's geared toward the young, but isn't rowdy, at least when I have been there. Well, I was there for Halloween and it was a regular freak show. Don't miss it. And don't miss music at the Blue Nile or the Spotted Cat or Three Muses.

There’s something for everyone who’s into live music. It’s in the air on a light breeze as you walk around or buzzing in your ear from a speaker cabinet near the bar. Frenchman is less chaotic and less frantic than the general French Quarter scene, its just music. Find what you like, order an adult beverage, have a seat and let the music wrap you in magic.

We are frequent NOLA vacationers and only ventured to Frenchman Street our last two vacations. Don't wait that long!!! THIS is the place to hear the locals - THIS is the place where I go to watch high school students out LONG past their bedtimes with a grin and a toe tappin just lovin the freedom and music while they play in the streets. It gives me chills. Cats Eye and Blue Nile are great places to go inside and hear some local PAID talent too! Don't hesitate to go -- you are just as safe here as you are on Bourbon. Don't bring the kids though.
