Fun, informative tour through the French Quarter. Learned a lot about New Orleans and tasted some delicious cocktails! Sandy was a delight!

This was probably the best, most informative and most entertaining tour I have been on in a long time, in any city. Our group had Joe Gendusa as our guide (and guide dog, to herd us sheep from one venue to the next), and he was superb as a racconteur and in his selection of venues. We visited places I would never have thought of going into, and learned a huge amount - not just about the cocktails and their history, but about the general history of New Orleans and the buildings we visited. I am sure the tour went on well beyond the time that we paid for it - which I think shows the value, and the interest generated among the group. I stayed on to eat in one of the places (Antoine's - I would never have thought of going there otherwise), and the next day sought out Pirate's Alley so that I could buy Joe's book.

We first wondered how a women would turn out for a cocktail tour guide. We quickly realized we were lucky to have Sandy. We all bonded and went to the bars and had an exhilarating time. Our tour did not end after two hours!

We (couple in early 30’s) did this tour on a Sunday afternoon in mid-February 2013. Joe was our guide. I booked the tour same day after reading all of the great reviews, and especially the great reviews for Joe. We like history but are generally not fans of organized tours.

This was without a doubt the most fun we had in 4 trips down to NOLA, and we really love NOLA by the way. It was informative and interesting without becoming too dry. It’s not a drink to get drunk tour, so don’t go expecting a wild party. Expect a history-oriented tour with a focus on original cocktails and the history of culinary institutions in the city.

On this tour we went to Antoine's, the Court of Two Sisters, Pirates Alley and Arnaud's. Our favorite drink was the Sazerac at Antoine’s. TIP- The tour stops will vary with your guide.

The drinks were great and the bars/restaurants were really interesting. But what really made the tour was Joe. He was a truly outstanding tour guide… Very informed yet down to earth and enjoyable. The tour felt like walking around town with a good friend who knew all the bartenders and could entertain you for hours with stories. Call ahead and ask if Joe is leading the tour. If so, book it. Simple as that.

Sandy Smith did a great job leading us through the local drinking establishments of the French Quarter. Each location we went to was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Sandy's local knowledge and rapport with the places we visited was fantastic. In fact, when we went back to a couple of places the next night they remembered our group. The only downside was that people on the tour fizzled out a little early instead of sticking around until the end.
