“Thank you Kelly”

Location is great, in the French Quarter but away from the messy part and Frenchmen Street is just around the corner (forget about Bourbon Street).
The Blue Room was convenient (a bit dark so if you are claustrophobic, I recommend to book another one of the house), the courtyard lovely and the innkeeper Kelly is the best host ever. Just to share a glass of wine on the stoop with her and the passing by neighbors is worth the stay.

New Orleans is my home away from home..back in the day! Kelly made me remember why and where.....and how it was my home, again. My dear friends and clients owned it before Katrina...and Kelly and the quaintness of Royal Barracks Guest House made me remember why it is still my home. If you want to experience New Orleans as if you live and breathe it....then you must stay here. You are between Bourbon and Royal St. ,,,one block from Esplanade...not where just the tourist hang..but the locals exist and live. If you REALLY want to experience the French Quarter and want to feel welcome and comfortable this is the place for you.

Room Tip: If you are tired of the mainstream..and want the real experience of New Orleans, with personal care a...

I absolutely LOVE this place! Kelly is the best inn keeper and makes all her guests feel at home. This was my 2nd stay and I will be going back every year! The courtyard is beautiful and a great place to gather with friends and meet new ones!

I highly recommend Royal Barracks Guest House. Beautiful, peaceful, and convenient location.

Room Tip: The Suite is SWEET! :-)

My partner and I stay in guest houses and bed and breakfast on most vacations. We've stayed in many around the US. Never have we been made to feel more at home than we were at Royal Barracks. Kelly has honestly thought of everything you could possibly need. She's warm and welcoming; she's truly a gracious, southern-bred hostess. We stayed in The Suite. It is spacious (except the shower, but one expects that in these old places), clean, beautifully decorated, with a small refrigerator, and a microwave. The bed is comfortable, as is the day bed. The room opens right onto the sidewalk of Barracks, which in other cities would be a drawback, but in the French Quarter, it makes one feel as if one is part of the Quarter. I found myself out on the stoop every night watching the city go by. Kelly joined me on a couple of occasions as did many of the neighbors, from other rooms and the actual neighbors. It's just that kind of place. You really get a feel for what it's like living in the French Quarter. Theres a patio on one side and in the back. All the other rooms open onto the patio. Beautiful plants are everywhere. Palm trees shade the rear. There are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs. There is bottled water in the rooms, wine is often poured, and there's always a snack available if you need one. Its position on the edge of the Quarter is perfect. It's a quiet street with just enough activity to make it interesting. Bourbon Street, is steps away and Frenchman Street is just a few blocks away. We've stayed at three guest houses in New Orleans before Barracks. I can tell you that we won't be going back to New Orleans unless we can stay at the Barracks. We've already booked The Suite for next year. Yeah, it's that good. Thanks, Kelly! You made our trip so wonderful

Room Tip: The Suite is worth the extra money. We felt at home in it.

My husband and I stayed at the RBGH during the second weekend of Jazzfest. This place is located in the PERFECT spot for a visit to New Orleans. It is a few blocks walk to the Jazzfest bus, the Frenchman St. music scene, Port of Call, Envie coffee shop, the Old Mint, Decatur St, and French Market, just to name a few favorites. And, of course, it is in a quiet part of the French Quarter, this side of Esplanade between Bourbon and Royal streets.

We were in the Garden Room, a cozy and quintessential example of old New Orleans decor. The room opened up into the private courtyard, a lush space with chairs, ice machine, music and snacks, the perfect place to chill after the Jazzfest and before dinner or an evening of music.

Kelly was the ideal hostess, very friendly and genuine. She made us feel welcome (along with her sweet dog Sugar Bee!) and provided lots of tips and insights to the city.

For an authentic New Orleans experience, a great value and the perfect location, you can't beat the Royal Barracks Guest House!

Royal Barracks is a great New Orleans experience. Located in the east side of the French Quarter, you have quiet and are close to so much. You can be in the heart of the French Quarter in a couple of blocks, a short walk to the market and just a little further to Jackson Square. Kelly, who manages the place, shared lots of great local places to go from a local's perspective and every one was right on. We kept our bicycles in the alley and biked everywhere. The suite was wonderful, with big pocket doors available to close off the bedroom if needed and a roomy living area right off Barrack's street. The three days we were in N.O. was the highlight of our two week trip and Royal Barracks was a big part of that.

We only stayed here one night, but will definitely return for a longer stay at the Royal Barracks. I can't say enough about this cozy, comfy guest house. We stayed in the Gothic Room -- very cool decor (can you say hand-painted walls?!), super comfortable bed, and lots of the little things: really great-smelling soap, extra towels, comfy robes and GOOD coffee. Our room faced a lovely brick backyard with beautiful, lush plants. And to top it all off, the owner/hostess (Kelly) was a complete sweetheart -- really made us feel right at home. The other guests were friendly as well. Can't say anything bad about this place -- only wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back!
