Our second visit to the Kerlerec House and though we still cant procounce the street properly we find great ease in feeling at home here. Located in "the triangle" which is just where we like to be, a few steps from the french quarter, Krewe De Viuex parade just down the corner last weekend. The beds are cozy, the rooms are all unique and functional, the garden apartment feel is SOoo what we love, with a NICE hot tub in the back.

I was almost scared off by the two very negative reviews, but decided to take my chances here and am glad I did. My friend and I rented the "Crow's Nest" for a weekend, and found it delightfully quirky. Both bed and futon were very comfortable, the free WiFi was great, there was more than enough room for two of us, and the location--two blocks to the restaurants and clubs of Frenchmen Street, very close to the French Quarter but shielded from the noise and litter of Bourbon Street--absolutely can't be beat. This place does not have all of the amenities of a corporate hotel--it is very much in the idiosyncratic, bohemian NOLA style, which may not be for everyone, but for us really helped make our time in the city unique. I would definitely stay here again.

I was looking for a bargain, no frills expected. However, this place took no frills to a whole new level. There was constant confusion during the reservation process, no one to let us into the room when we arrived, and that sort of set the tone for the entire stay. In the ten days that we were there, neither owner checked in to see if everything was okay. There were no instructions regarding what to do if you needed supplies (toilet paper, for example), and there was a general sense of dinginess. The carpets needed to be cleaned, the paint is peeling, and the shower mats looked like a science experiment.
To be fair, the kitchens are serviceable, the wi-fi is convenient, and the hot tub was nice. If you're extremely laid-back, it might be okay, but I think for the average traveler, this is not what you're looking for.

my husband and i took our two teen sons to nola for voodoo festival (our second year attending). this time, we opted to find a house type setting instead of a hotel, as it is financially easier on us. after searching numerous sites, i came across kerlerec house. when i inquired, the price was good and the location perfect, just on the "other side" of the hustle/bustle of the quarter. dealing with the house manager was terrific, and we were really given sort of a family welcome.
the house itself is rustic in that genuine nola way... the set up of the quarters was cozy but not intrusive. i loved feeling like part of a neighborhood, which it definitely was. one of the reasons we like to rent a house, if we can, is the money we save in eating out all the time. although we DID eat out a lot (hey, it was voodoo festival time!), it was fantastic to be able to throw together breakfast and lunch, or heat up a pizza in the middle of the night.
the biggest set back we had was the parking... if we stay there again, i think we will find a parking garage with a guaranteed space. there is a shortage of grocery stores in the area, as we northerners know them, but once we found the winn-dixie and the wal-mart super center, we were good.
i would warn anyone who's looking for an entertainment type hotel to keep their kids busy that this is NOT IT... this is a relaxing, slow paced neighborhood, not a glitzy keep-your-kids-amused hotel!

I've stayed here a few times now and every time it has been great. The Scotts (the owners are both named Scott) are wonderful hosts, running over to give us anything we needed. The rooms are comfortable, feeling like a second home, that is a home with a hot tub! Location is just on the edge of the French Quarter, so it's quiet, but close, and Port of Call is right there! I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

We recently rented the Kerlerec House for our yearly guys trip to Bourbon Street. There were 12 guys and we could not have been more pleased with the Kerlerec House. The trip would not have been the same had we all rented hotel rooms. The location is perfect, the house(s) are perfect and the amenities are great as well. The property is made up of 2 houses with another large building for a total of 3 living units, nice court yard area and hot tub area. The whole property is fenced off with a very tall privacy fence and give you the sense of privacy. There is nice landscaping and the rooms are decorated very nicely. Everything was clean and in order when we arrived. With that said, you do have to have the understanding that you are going to New Orleans and Bourbon Street and not have expectations that you are staying in 3 Southern Mansions, in a wonderful clean city - because Bourbon Street is not, however, we all understood this from the beginning. Regardless this place was still very acceptable. Myself and 6 others of the group are world travelers and have been everywhere under the sun, and we all loved this place.

I stayed here with10 friends for Jazzfest weekend for four nights. This is a fantastic place and location--a true find. We stayed in the main house, jazz club and garden suite rooms. This was perfect--tons of room, great garden, hot tub and very unique space (stained glass windows, eaved rooms).

I also saw the other review about cleanliness and we had no issues whatsoever--the rooms were quite clean and the owners very responsive.

History of property.: Experience all of wonderful New Orleans while staying in one of the oldest Creole Cottages in the city. This home was built circa. 1808 and has some of the finest examples of architecture and details fashionable in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. You will be staying one short block from the French Quarter and one block from Bourbon Street. Our cottage is luxuriously furnished and elegantly decorated, having antiques from the mid to late 1800’s. THE HISTORY OF THIS AMAZING HOME This elegantly decorated Creole Cottage built, “of columbage and bricked between post” circa. 1808, is one of the rarest examples of early Creole cottage architecture remaining to date. This home is in the first subdivision of New Orleans named Faubourg Marigny. The plantation was subdivided in March 16 1806. This home retains almost all of its original architectural features including; its rare Ram’s horn hinges and original latches on the French glass doors. More history of property.: There are also very outstanding long latches which were used to open and close the doors. The ceilings are original and are “dressed and beaded” which are rare to find intact to day. The mantels are the most distinguishing interior elements in Creole domestic architecture. Two of the mantels are box mantels in the style dating from the late 1700’s to 1810 with columns supporting a frieze having strong horizontal moldings. The floors are beautiful large plank and the original moldings are intact. This property was sold to one of the first women of color to purchase property in the United States. Madame Magdalene Baure’ purchased three lots which now form the sites of 1426 and 1434 Burgundy and of 928, 930 and 934 Kerlerec. This property now has 4 other cottages, two of which were believed to be very early barge board cottages from the early 1800’s most likely moved here at a later date.
