“Perfect for a Large Group heading to Bourbon Street”
Reviewed May 11, 2009

We recently rented the Kerlerec House for our yearly guys trip to Bourbon Street. There were 12 guys and we could not have been more pleased with the Kerlerec House. The trip would not have been the same had we all rented hotel rooms. The location is perfect, the house(s) are perfect and the amenities are great as well. The property is made up of 2 houses with another large building for a total of 3 living units, nice court yard area and hot tub area. The whole property is fenced off with a very tall privacy fence and give you the sense of privacy. There is nice landscaping and the rooms are decorated very nicely. Everything was clean and in order when we arrived. With that said, you do have to have the understanding that you are going to New Orleans and Bourbon Street and not have expectations that you are staying in 3 Southern Mansions, in a wonderful clean city - because Bourbon Street is not, however, we all understood this from the beginning. Regardless this place was still very acceptable. Myself and 6 others of the group are world travelers and have been everywhere under the sun, and we all loved this place.

I stayed here with10 friends for Jazzfest weekend for four nights. This is a fantastic place and location--a true find. We stayed in the main house, jazz club and garden suite rooms. This was perfect--tons of room, great garden, hot tub and very unique space (stained glass windows, eaved rooms).

I also saw the other review about cleanliness and we had no issues whatsoever--the rooms were quite clean and the owners very responsive.

I did a lot of research for a comfortable user friendly setting for my 50th Birthday gathering in the great city of New Orleans, La. I found the Kerlerec House!!! My e-mails back and fourth, my phone calls to them all were very helpful and answered in a more than timely manner! We were a group of 13 that came from various areas of the US...this created a situation that would have put any Hotelier over the edge...but not the owners of the Kerlerec House. They worked with me to make sure we had the correct number of bed space and the correct number of quarters we needed during our 5 day stay! The houses were clean and very nicely appointed with kitchen, bath, and living amenities. Both gentlemen were very helpful and very pleasant when I needed to change an incoming guests day of arrival and departure...they even allowed me to add another room at the last minute! I am speaking for all of the Guests that were in my party.....WE would all go back and stay at the Kerlerec House in New Orleans!

The hot tub was very clean and we all enjoyed our late night soaks. The main house was used for our gatherings each morning and our late night laughter Every night.
The only problem was the small shower upstairs in the main house...our big men could not fit...BUT it did make a great point of laughter seeing them try to shower. The guys simply used the large shower down stairs.

My boyfriend and I have stayed at the Kerlerec house for the last four years we have been going to New Orleans. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the French Quarter and only about a 5 minute walk to Frenchmen St.
The neighborhood is quiet. The beutiful courtyard is a nice place to sit and have coffee in the morning or drinks in the evening. It's also a nice place to socialize with other guests. We have stayed in the Jazz Club and the Crows Nest. Both rooms were very nice and clean.
The 2 Scotts who own the place are always willing to help with whatever you need. We have become friends with them and look forward to seeing them every year. We already have a room reserved for a couple of days in August and next year. I could never say enough about how much I enjoy staying at the Kerlerec house. It's a great place for a reasonable price.

Recently, my girlfriend and I stayed again at the Kerlerec House for the 2009 Jazz Fest. This is the fourth year we have made this unknown gem our destination for the Fest. Located two blocks from the French Quarter and priced more than affordably, we have always had wonderful stays. Cleanliness was always top notch and any maintainence/housekeeping problems were fixed in a reasonable length of time by a simple phone call. The hot tub was nice, full kitchens (in some rooms) were a treat and the free washer/dryer was a very pleasant surprise. The personable owners always are good for suggestions on where to go or to just swap stories over a drink. They have a real sense on just when to leave you alone to enjoy the courtyard and rooms. Be aware that there are cosmetic blemishes and some of the rooms are oddly shaped, but that only adds to the funky New Orleans charm. I highly recommend them for location, value and atmosphere.

I have been coming to New Orleans for 25 years and finally lucked into the best spot available. On the edge of the quarter, perfect secluded spot. We travelled with a large family (relatives and six kids from 12-18). It was out own oasis -- a family compound. Beautiful furnishings, hot tub and garden area. We always use houses or condo's when we travel and this one was the most historic and beautiful. The kids loved the neighborhood goat -- and Verti Marte (local 24 hour food and grocery) delivers to the area (wife and kids loved this the most!!!) We'll be booking again for MG2010 (great price).

We stayed in two different rooms on the property. Both had comfy beds, plenty of nice towels, good a/c, stereo system, coffee maker w/coffee, cups, plates & real glasses. The hot tub is in a lovely garden, washer/dryer is available, Even being a small property, we never heard the other guests - each room has it's privacy.

Can't beat the location - a few blocks from the Quarter, a few blocks from Frenchmen Street. Mini Mart around the corner & Buffa's down the street hast the best late night burger in town!

History of property.: Experience all of wonderful New Orleans while staying in one of the oldest Creole Cottages in the city. This home was built circa. 1808 and has some of the finest examples of architecture and details fashionable in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. You will be staying one short block from the French Quarter and one block from Bourbon Street. Our cottage is luxuriously furnished and elegantly decorated, having antiques from the mid to late 1800’s. THE HISTORY OF THIS AMAZING HOME This elegantly decorated Creole Cottage built, “of columbage and bricked between post” circa. 1808, is one of the rarest examples of early Creole cottage architecture remaining to date. This home is in the first subdivision of New Orleans named Faubourg Marigny. The plantation was subdivided in March 16 1806. This home retains almost all of its original architectural features including; its rare Ram’s horn hinges and original latches on the French glass doors. More history of property.: There are also very outstanding long latches which were used to open and close the doors. The ceilings are original and are “dressed and beaded” which are rare to find intact to day. The mantels are the most distinguishing interior elements in Creole domestic architecture. Two of the mantels are box mantels in the style dating from the late 1700’s to 1810 with columns supporting a frieze having strong horizontal moldings. The floors are beautiful large plank and the original moldings are intact. This property was sold to one of the first women of color to purchase property in the United States. Madame Magdalene Baure’ purchased three lots which now form the sites of 1426 and 1434 Burgundy and of 928, 930 and 934 Kerlerec. This property now has 4 other cottages, two of which were believed to be very early barge board cottages from the early 1800’s most likely moved here at a later date.
