Description: Please note that the courtyard is seated on a first come, first serve basis. A reservation does not guarantee seating in the courtyard but we will have a table available inside our beautiful, historic carriage house. We normally allow reservation space for only 50% of the dining room to accommodate walk-ins. Additionally, in order to accommodate all of our guests who are waiting to be seated, we are only able to seat your party once everyone has arrived. Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Cafe Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting. Cafe Amelie has a full bar offering an array of signature cocktail creations. Cafe Amelie and the accompanying Princess of Monaco Courtyard are also available for private parties, weddings and receptions.

“Where else to find a quiet, green outdoors eatery in the Quarter?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Why doesn't this spot rank higher on TA? It's leafy, outdoor setting alone makes it worth seeking especially for an outdoor meal on a nice day. We'd made a date to meet others elsewhere for lunch but when stumbling upon this oasis on a blistering hot day, we thought we were in heaven and phoned our friends to meet us there instead. Good call as the other spot, Cafe Maspero, paled in comparison. There was a brief rain shower during our lunch. Other diners quickly fled indoors from the courtyard but the umbrellas kept us covered and it was more than pleasant. We count our lunch there as a highlight.

“Cafe Amelie Is A Great Restaurant Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

Four of us dined one evening on the patio. The weather was outstanding and the patio is a great experience topped only by the food. The menu is varied and each of our dishes was prepared perfectly. Our waitress Patchouli (yes, that is her real name!) was terrific. I recommend this restaraunt as part of the New Orleans experience.

“A Diner with the Garden View”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

The place had outdoor seatings as well as indoor. The outdoor tables were arranged around a sort of small garden and a small fountain (well we were there at the evening with dim light, so we couldn't see much of the garden). Overall I think the food was average, and we had to wait half an hour to get table. But we had a stroll in the neighborhood, which was quite nice as well, as along Royal St there were lots of art shop, so we enjoyed our window galleries. There was a bar inside the restaurant as well (which I think was too dark and starts to feel gloomy inside). The place was closed at 10 PM, so we had to cut our group chat short and head back to our hotel. But I would give credit to the nice atmosphere (not too crowded), and we didn't have to wait long for the food.

“A must while you're in the French Quarter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

This dining experience topped all the others I had during my 5 days in New Orleans. It's not like I had selected lesser places - I'm a foodie. Our server Wade was GREAT! Sit on the patio I the weather allows; it's a garden paradise. Don't miss the crab cake and the signature drink The Amelie. If they happen to have the apple pie for dessert - and ask because it may not be listed on the menu - have that over all other desserts. It's the most perfect apple pie ever. As I think about it, I'm inspired to make a pie, which I haven't done in 20 years. Happy eating.

“Good food, outdoors yet off the street”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

Had lunch here. A little more expensive than typical, but nice quiet location. I thought the service was fine, but the waiter comped my dessert because he felt he wasn't attentive enough. How often does that happen?
