We attended a wedding in Cafe Amelia's courtyard, and it was lovely ! The food was New Orleans style, and was very good.

We were actually walking down Royal Street on our first night in NOLA. looking for a restaurant that friends from back home had recomemnded from their recent visit here..we saw the pretty courtyard and snapped a quick photo as we walked by.

Then I said to my husband, wait, lets check out the menu...and when we did and saw what we liked, and learned that we could be seated immediately outside, we said yes. What a wonderful way to end our first night there. By the end of our meal it was a bit breezy but we did have jackets.

Granted, it was on the pricey side, but well worth it -- the food was so tasty and eating outside with the little dangling lights/candles here & there was very beautiful, We saw the menu was small but all fresh and local ingredients. We keep kosher so we were pleased to see two fish entrees we could order and we had wonderful ample-size salads to start. We ate lightly so we could enjoy a shared dessert. That was a hard decision to make as everything sounded great! Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. ("southern hospitality")

We took the opportunity to use the restrooms inside so we could see the carriage house which also looked quite lovely to eat in (sorry I don't have any photos) --ceiling fans, tiled floor and exposed brick walls, a pretty bar, all very inviting.

What a charming place that's on a quiet part of Royal. We had small plates and dessert on a cold night in April and all of our bites were delicious. The crab cake and shrimp & grits were perfectly executed. We would go back in a heartbeat. Next time it'll be warm outside and we can take advantage of the beautiful courtyard!

We, a family of seven ages 5 to 67, came across this tucked away little gem completely by accident. Entering through a charming courtyard, we were seated inside next to open French doors. Service was quick, appropriately present when needed, and the food excellent. Prices were a bit stiff, but not unreasonable considering the quality and presentation if the food, and the wonderful ambiance of the locale.

We were all happy as clams when we finished and went back to our hotel. The Cafe Amelie was a wonderful surprise, and the food a nice change from all the deep fried and/or sloppy food you get everywhere in the south.

We were there with our 5-year-old, and that worked fine. However, I would not call this a family restaurant. It's perfect for romantic dates, and for others looking for a fine dining experience in the otherwise noisy and gritty French Quarter.

I stopped by Cafe Amelie with some friends in late March for brunch. The atmosphere was great, and I enjoyed sitting outside in their small courtyard. The menu had unique and interesting choices as well as some traditional items. The house drink menu also had a great selection of signature cocktails as well. This is a great little place, and I would definitely drop by again when I am in New Orleans.
