We started our first night off at Desire with the Creole Trio - jambalaya, gumbo, red beans, sausage and rice. Quite good and friendly, efficient wait staff. I do think $20 is a bit pricey for the portion size (gumbo and rice/beans/sausage served in cup size portions). But the food is good and you are close to the action on Bourbon street. Be sure to try the garlic hot sauce - it is soooo good!

We stumbled upon this great little place and we were able to just walk in without a wait.... The crab cakes were delicious.
My husband tried the alligator meatballs and said they too were yummy.

Our breakfast was extremely good, but at $50.00 for two persons, was a little too high. It is convenient to the Royal Sonasta Hotel, but there are more reasonable breakfast restaurants.

Ate three meals in this restaurant on recent trip. The gumbo is good but not "great". Oysters on the half shell were exceptional. Large, lots of brine and very fresh. Breakfast was very good. Service was good and food was served promptly.

We have visited New Orleans about 20 times over the past 40 years, and Desire is one of the best restaurants on Bourbon Street, in our humble opinion. We always enjoy the 'Oysters Desire'. My wife and I also shared the traditional red beans and rice and sausage, which was tasty as well. This year our daughter and son-in-law were with us and we shared the 'Fried Seafood Combo Platter'. It was enough food for the four of us (along with the oysters and red beans). The food was great, our server Tony was very attentive, and the hostess secured a table for us with a view of the Bourbon Street action. Even with the abundance of great restaurants in New Orleans we always enjoy our visit to the Desire Oyster Bar in the Royal Sonesta Hotel.
