“In the thick of it on Bourbon Street!”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Located right where the action is on Bourbon Street, we had a window seat onto the street which was excellent! Great atmosphere in the restaurant, wife ordered fried green tomatoes which I had a taste of and were excellent and I had boiled shrimp which were very good.

The main course, I ordered the Jambalaya which was tasty too, washed all this down with a couple of (very strong) Long Island Ice Teas so was rocking afterwards!

Dining experience was a pleasant surprise as usually in such locations the food can get away with being poor to average....

“Always Great!”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Desire Oyster Bar is located in the Royal Sonesta but accessible from Bourbon Street. If you can catch it at an off time you won't have to wait on the crazy lines. Delicious oysters, bloody mary's and gumbo. Our service is always good and the restaurant is just so classic with the copper (tin?) ceilings, throwback fans, decor, etc. Touristy but always great!

“Great Oysters”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Stopped in for oysters at Desire and we were not disappointed. Casual eatery with excellent service. The oysters were fresh and large & we also enjoyed the Crab Louie Salad.

“Great, tasty food”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Stopped here on a Livingsocial deal and had a great experience with the food and service. I ordered the Oysters Desire which is broiled oysters with parmesan cheese, creole seasoning, & garlic butter. Very rich and delicious, however, I didn't expect that the oyster shells would be over rock salt when I dipped the bread into the plate and met with a way too salty bite. My wife ordered the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp which are jumbo shrimp sautéed in garlic, rosemary & lemons in a rich worcestershire sauce, with garlic bread. She was so happy to try the famed New Orleans BBQ shrimp. They even do old time drinks like Sazerac which was pretty neat. Would definitely come back for another great experience.

“Very Disappointed”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

There were 4 of us dining, and the menu looked very inviting. We ordered the boiled, spicy shrimp it was the best thing we had. The shrimp were large and not to spicy. We also ordered the shrimp and grits, grits were good, the rest was bland and the shrimp was over cooked. One person got the pasta and alligator meatballs, skip this. Another person got the muffalatta, way too much olive salad. The bread they give you was very good. I would not waste my money at this facility.
