This is one of the few moderately priced restaurants that we found in the US. There are many cheap eateries and expensive eateries, but few inbetweens-the Desire is one of those rarities. It is part of the very classy Royal Sonesta Hotel. We ate here before going to Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse also part of the Royal Sonesta. We had two main courses and two beers; it was delicious-total bill with tax & gratuity $49/£35. A day later we both had continental breakfast here- I struggle with the Southern Breakfast or and this was the only restaurant that offered a proper fruit/croissant/coffee/fruit juice option-total bill with tax & gratuity £38/27. The quality of food here is excellent and the staff are friendly and professional

It's fun to walk around the French Quarter and check out all of the restaurants' menus before deciding where to dine. Well, the crawfish etouffée was probably the most affordable of all of the menus we saw. It was not the best, but is surely was very tasty. Our son's alligator meatballs over pasta was a hit, too. We had asked for and were seated at a table by the 'window' and were entertained by the street artists and by a wedding party marching down the street, complete with parasol and band. We do not recommend ordering hurricanes; we were disappointed with the lack of alcohol in them for the $10 per drink price. The real negative was the server - he was the epitome of a dead fish - I guess appropriate for a seafood restaurant!

It's part of the Royal Sonesta Hotel building and very convenient for guests. Friendly staff and tasty breakfast. Many items on the menu. Coffee could be better. We like our coffee strong. Good place to start your day.

Desire located in the Royal Sonesta Hotel. We had a great dinner here-oysters, shrimp and pasta were all great! Party of 4 people and everyone loved their dinner!! Large portions of food! Also, they do serve breakfast which we also enjoyed every morning of our stay! Great service by very lovely people! Highly recommend for dinner and breakfast too!

My husband and I had just arrived in New Orleans and were looking to try some local food and were starving. We just walked into the first restaurant we walked by. Great environment that is very welcoming and bustling! Our waitress was extremely friendly. I had a muffaletta which was good but my husband had the Creole Trio which was delicious!!! His meal came with gumbo, jumbalaya, red beans & rice and sausage. It was the perfect way to experience three meals in one. It was one of the best meals we had while visiting. We would definitely recommend stopping in for a casual fun meal.
