I knew about Pat O'Briens before we went to New Orleans, but I didn't realize it had so many different options inside. There is a small bar that has a big screen for games, a larger outdoor area, and a dual-piano bar. We spent most of one night in the piano bar and had WAY too much fun. The musicians are very talented! The next night we went back and spent most of the time outside. We came home with an embarrassing amount of free glasses, but it was so much fun accumulating them.

if you can eat in the courtyard and try the Mulefatte (olive )sandwich. The place gets loud and crowded, so decide to have an early dinner or late dinner (after 9pm)

The female side (on the right after you go in) is non-smoking. The left side is the main bar and allows smoking. The former was empty; the latter was rocking and crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. Had a gin fizz - absolutely great! Doorman hands you a postcard and mardi gras beads. Such a treasure!

We just wanted an appetizer and try a Hurricane. The appetizer was a special for the day - it was cheese stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon and then battered and deep fried.....holy cow, it was great! The Hurricane, to us, it taste like tropical punch kool-aid with rum. Not for sure what the hype is all about, but the staff was great!

Get there early!! If you dont there will be a long line out the door. Its the oldest bar in america. Bartenders arr great and attentive (and nice to look at). They have food outside as well. Be careful, if you go outside to eat, the drinks cost a little bit more. But the atmosphere is great and everyone is in a happy go lucky mood! Do not miss this place.
