“Great location, clean and friendly staff!”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

A friend and I recently stayed at an apartment that the inn rents out for a getaway. It was about a half block from the inn. The apartment was wonderful. It had three beds, was clean and had a kitchen with dishes and even a fridge. The owner was nice and accomidating. The neighborhood was good and there was a convenience store with a huge selection of deli items a block away. Only five blocks from the French Quarter and a cheap cab ride if you don't feel like walking. Wonderful experience. Will stay here next time we are in town again! Thanks again!

Room Tip: The apartment rooms are nice if you have multiple travelers staying together. It was quiet and only...

We picked this place specifically for the hot tub, which was fabulous! The courtyard was beautiful! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable and we were able to use the bikes to visit the french quarter. It was very close to frenchman street and all the jazz music you could ever want. Parking was readily available and free!

Room Tip: A couple rooms open directly into the courtyard. I'd probably request those if we visit again.

Ed was very accommodating--no room at his B&B for the beginning of MardiGras, but he was able to rent us another property for our week long stay. Stayed in the apartment half block from Lions Inn, was quiet, secure, clean and in a very convenient area. 2 bedroom, decent size rooms and very comfortable queen size mattresses. 24 hour store a small block away, Krewe de Vieux parade went right by the corner, Frenchman Street was within walking (stumbling) distance, a bit longer of a walk to French Quarter. Plenty of local restaurants to choose from, on-street parking not a problem for our rental car. Ed very helpful with our touring plans (even providing us with a road atlas to borrow for our day trips) He was easy to communicate with prior to arrival, and flexible with check-in/check-out times, allowing us to store our baggage at the B&B for the day as our flight did not leave until early evening. The B&B looked like a fantastic place to stay and would recommend Lions Inn and/or the other listings on the B&B site for a stay in New Orleans.

I took a 3 day trip to New Orleans by myself and stayed at Lions Inn, room D, which gave me affordable accommodations in a great location near the French Quarter and Frenchmens Street. The B&B is beautiful. The building is classic NOLA. The staff was very helpful. Good breakfast in a lovely, huge renovated modern kitchen/ dining room. I enjoyed chatting with a couple other guests during breakfast. All common areas are top notch and high quality. The outdoor pool, hot tub, garden and pond are awesome. The large back yard is a hidden gem! I highly recommend this B&B. And no, I am not the proprietor's mother! I am just a tourist from Philadelphia PA.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room D which is cheap and only works for a single person. I was delighted that I got su...

Very nice stay and close to Frenchman St. Walkable to the FQ but a cab ride was only $6-8 if it was late. Sufficient continental breakfast and friendly innkeeper. He even let us borrow an umbrella on a rainy day. Bathroom was spacious and clean; bed was comfortable. Wish we could have enjoyed the patio, but it was COLD during out visit. Great value for the area.

I've stayed here twice and will keep coming back. The colorful Marigny streets are so interesting, and it's definitely walkable to the French Quarter. Even at night it feels safe. We actually borrowed a couple of the inn's free bikes (the ones that were functional), and that made our trips back and forth to the French Quarter super easy. We even rode the bikes to dinner all the way over in the CBD, since it's so flat and easy to bike there. But on foot, the Lions Inn is literally around the corner from some great places like Mimi's bar and Cake Cafe for breakfast.

Room Tip: Room #1 is a great choice, since it faces the pool in the nicely landscaped back yard and has its ow...

Ive stayed at Lions Inn at least once a year for a number of years now, & it's never let me down. The owners, Ed & Floyd are bonafide Southern Gentlemen who know all there is to know about hospitality & how to run a B&B. They also know all about New Orleans & will gladly guide & help you with your plans. I've stayed in only 2 of their rooms, but I've seen their other rooms, & you can't go wrong in any of them. Several rooms have small fridges, so if you want that, ask for it, but there's also a communal fridge in one of the hallways. The free continental breakfast & a wine & cheese buffet are served in the beautiful backyard garden where there's a pool, hot-tub, & a lovely little fish pond. The Marigny location is gr8 ... just a 10min walk to the French Quarter, & even less to Frenchman St & to the famous French Mrkt itself or the French Mrkt stop on the Riverfront Streetcar which stops every few blocks of the French Quarter thru Canal St & several stops more into the Central Business District. There are different streetcars, so be sure to read signs (or ask the drivers) so you can take another streetcar all the way out to City Park, & still another turns on Loyola St & stops in front of the library (where you can catch the E2 Bus to the airport), the Post Office, & the Greyhound Bus Terminal. The point being: The Marigny may not be as well-known as the French Quarter, but just a few blocks from Lions Inn you can get streetcars to almost anywhere in New Orleans. The Marigny is really just as centrally & conveniently located as the Quarter as well as being quieter, cleaner, more residential, & alot less touristy. There are many B&Bs (but no big hotels) in the Marigny, & Lions Inn is certainly one of the best. The expertise & warmth of the way Lions Inn is run sets it above & apart from the ordinary.
