“Excellent location!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

Great hotel in an excellent location! Walking distance to the French Quarter, Bourbon St, Royal St, the river boardwalk, shopping and restaurants, St Louis cemetery and steps from the trolley to other tourist destinations like The Garden District.

Bonus is the otel offered a free breakfast. Great selection! Staff were helpful, there's a small bar, pool, free computers and the rooms/washrooms were nice and clean.

Thanks for taking the time to share your review! The location really is perfect for exploring New Orleans. Just about anything you could be looking for is walkable (or the streetcar that can get you there is just 2 blocks away). Our favorite part is that after enjoying all the hustle and bustle of New Orleans, you can still have a nice quiet place to come back to. Really is the best of both worlds! Hopefully you get to return to New Orleans soon, and can explore some more!

We stayed at the New Orleans Country Inn and Suites for 3 nights -- well, only 2 nights because we were unceremoniously bumped from our room for the first night on March 31st. Here is what happened:

Our room was booked almost one month prior on March 7th. The confirmation email from Country Inn stated that the the room was guaranteed and that our payment was made at the time of booking -- that is, pre-paid.

Furthermore, we booked directly with this particular Inn - spoke with their reservation agents.

We arrived around 10:30pm, 3 of us, one a minor child. The front desk manager on duty stated the hotel was overbooked and that they would make arrangements at another hotel, pay for that room, and pay our cab rides back and forth.

I felt we were powerless and helpless. We were in an unfamiliar city and it was getting late at night. I had no idea where we were to be sent. We meticulously plan our vacations, and this was extremely upsetting to all of us (we couldn't believe our ears at first, thinking it was an early April Fool's joke). Furthermore, I felt going back out onto the street near midnight was unnecessarily putting our minor child at risk.

The room at the Drury Inn where we were sent (no complaints with that hotel, next time will stay there!) did not have the same 2 queen bed configuration that we booked at the Country Inn. Another demerit for CI&S.

We did return to Country Inn for the remaining 2 nights -- they had our money already, and do I want to spend my (valued and rare) vacation time bickering with the hotel staff or making other arrangements?

I was furious those couple of days there. Not only did we have the usual credit-card guaranteed reservation, but we were pre-paid. Guaranteed credit card reservations came about around the early 1980's to PREVENT THIS VERY TYPE OF EVENT from happening.

What a totally bush operation the management appears to be running. My suspicion is that they are trying to make an extra buck by double selling rooms and pocketing the profit for some percentage of no-shows versus those who do arrive. I asked twice more for an explanation on what had happened and never was provided with anything specific.

At first, I thought our experience was some random fluke. However, if you look back here in Trip Advisor (what would we do without you), you'll see the exact same thing happening multiple times over the past several years, from 2011 through last month.

And I am almost certain that I saw a couple sent packing in the same manner as us - because they were leaving with their bag in tow at 11 pm Tuesday, April 2nd, with the same looking hotel-voucher that we were given.

We have stayed at Country Inn and Suites for many years. I will never, on principle, stay with them again. The upper management chain of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group should investigate this particular property.

The second time we've stayed here in the last year. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to pretty much everything. Got a great price on the room, even during a big event wknd. The rooms are nice and spacious. The interior rooms are dark so it allows you to sleep in if you're out late. Valet parking is only $25/day, which for Nola isn't bad. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient.

Best part...my girlfriend left her ipad in one of the dresser drawers and we didnt realize it until we got back home. Called the hotel and they had recovered it!! HUGE THANKS, will definetly be back again.

We stayed for four nights over St. Patrick's Day. It was wonderful. We checked in on Saturday and were put in a room on the 4th floor. We were advised that it was next to the air conditioning units and they can be loud, if it was a problem to let them know. It wasn't a problem for my husband but I couldn't sleep. So I mentioned in the morning and without further questions we were moved and upgraded! =) What a treat. The suite room we were moved to was great. The staff was more than helpful and so sweet about us moving rooms. The suite was great, I would recommend them for sure!! Very spacious! Breakfast was wonderful (eggs, a meat, bagels, oatmeal bar, and granola, yogurt and fruit assortment and more) and the staff was willing to bring me disposable containers so that I could take something to our room. John at the bar is a real treat too. He was encaging and fun to chat with. Must try a swamp water!! If we travel back to NOLA, which we cannot wait to do, we will definitely stay here. Nice walking distance from Canal Street, French Quarter, Markets, WWII museum and street cars! I can't say enough good things about our stay, it was splendid!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating. After walking into the hotel you look up to see beautiful exposed brick, and a view all the way to the upper floors. Like most older renovated buildings this is a narrow and long building. They have a nicely done breakfast buffet although very busy. Get there early and best get a table in the lobby area outside of the main room. It will give you more space and ability to people watch. Our room was on the third floor above the atrium and despite people coming at all hours of the night, it was always quiet. They do have a small pool but due to the cooler weather in March we were unable to enjoy.

The hotel is in between of the French Quarter and the WWII museum. In addition being two blocks from the trolley.

I would stay here again for the value, friendliness of staff, and proximity to all the best attractions (or transportations to)!

Visually interesting repurposing of historic commercial buildings; nice spacious room; good soundproofing; free wifi in room; friendly staff & cookies at the front desk. Good restaurants within a block - Bon Ton for classic Creole, Rambla for tapas, Ruby Slipper for breakfast.

Room Tip: Elevator #3 is slow; ask for room served by another elevator.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. The hotel is managed very well. The rooms were a little small, but not too small for two people and very clean. The personnel were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was complimentary and enjoyable. We would return at any time.
