The best thing about the Palm Court is everything. The food is decent, the ambiance is lovely, the crowd is civil. There is plenty of room to dance. If you do not want dinner it is fine to sit and drink. The music is provided by the same musicians as the Preservation Hall. Except, with out the lines. Much better deal for a relaxing comfortable evening of Jazz in the French Quarter.

The music is amazing and worth the evening! But don't expect good food. The chef CANNOT balance flavors. The mushroom salad is pure vinigar and the bordelaise is overwhelming garlic. They need a new chef!

This is a good dining experience because it combines live Jazz music with eating! The atmosphere is unpretentious. Food is good. Tables are far enough apart to be comfortable. The band played at just the right level - not too soft, not too loud. Perfect!

We reserved for a Wednesday night and by 8:30, the restaurant was full. A couple of tables became empty at about 9:30 PM.

One of our group of 4 had heard good things from friends. We easily made reservations online ahead for a Wed. night. Welcomed nicely by host who mingled and danced through night - she was nutty but fun to watch. The music was superb New Orleans jazz. Just top-notch. We thought the waiter was inattentive, but decided he was mainly letting us listen to the music at our leisure, even though coffee and water were not refilled promptly. Menu didn't really describe dishes fully, so my entree wasn't really what I expected but good. Others loved theirs. Expensive with $5/person cover charge we were unaware of (but worth it). Music started at about 7:45, so we would not have made 7:00 reservations had we asked ahead of time. It did not fill up, and we were not ever pushed to leave, which was nice! All in all, I would recommend.

My wife and I visited the Palm Court twice in two consecutive weekends having last visited some 22 years ago. On both occasions the food was very good and service was excellent. On the first visit I enjoyed a rib eye steak and on the second an excellent dish of Creole Beef Indienne. The first visit had music provided by Lionel Ferbos and the Palm Court Jazz Band. Ferbos is quite an attraction being probably the oldest jazz musician with a regular weekly gig. 101 and still going strong. The second visit on a Sunday evening had music from an excellent band led by trombonist Lucien Barbarin. Both evenings had great atmosphere and for those wanting to hear real New Orleans Jazz and eat good food in convivial surroundings.
