La Petite is back
Traveler From South Carolina
On a recent visit to N'awlins, we wanted to dine at a place that had good food and service and was not too stuffy. Although it is more difficult to find quality experiences in post-Katrina New Orleans, we found the perfect experience at La Petite. The recent renovations under new management have given the restaurant a lighter, cheerier atmosphere and the food is more appealing than ever. The bouillabaisse is mouth wateringly delicious and don't forget to try one of the ever changing varieties of home made ice cream for dessert.

“Romantic atmosphere, but actually a little loud”
Reviewed October 29, 2006

This is a cozy restaurant to grab dinner with another couple. The service is decent and the food was all very good. A great place for a relaxing night out with friends. It has a romantic setting, but groups of 4-6 people go eat there, so it tends to be louder than you'd think.

We have never had a bad meal or bad service in this place. Bar is a great little nook to have a drink or two.

Did I mention the food??? OUTSTANDING!!!

Chef is one of the best in the city. (CHEF ANTONE SCHULTE)

“Snotty service, average food”
Reviewed August 17, 2005

I've eaten here 3 times because I kept expecting things to get better. All the restaurant reviewers were raving about the place, and it was impossible to get a reservation. Every time I called, the person on the other end was unbelievably snotty. Once, when I asked if I could wait at the bar to see if perhaps one of their reservations might be a no-show, they basically told me I couldn't do that in a very rude way. The service continued to be snotty every time I came there (the one exception being a male waiter who acted like he was drunk, and in that case the service was painfully slow). And I didn't do anything cheap like split entrees or anything - appetizer, entree and dessert for each person, every time. Still, I get treated as an afterthought. Totally ridiculous. For the same amount of money, I could have a much more enjoyable meal at NUMEROUS other restaurants in NOLA, where the waitstaff actually acknowledges that you exist and is happy that you are there. Try this place if you must, but don't be a bit surprised if you get treated like a second-class citizen once you're in the door (or even before that). I won't be back.

“Local's favorite”
Reviewed July 12, 2005

Small, open restaurant with exquisite food and excellent service. From a local who enjoys food in NO more than anything else here, take this to heart: my favorite restaurant.

There must be a saucier, because every dish comes complete with an excellent, flavorful sauce. The ravioli appetizer is delicious, as is the blue crab salad. Entrees are top-notch; try the duck medium. My favorite thing to do when I'm feeling the strains of a hard day at work is to head here, have a cocktail, and enjoy the atmosphere. Although it isn't the quietest place and the open dining room means louder talking...if you don't like a loud restaurant, don't come here. Maybe somewhere empty is more your style...

Chef is a former employee of anotehr well known restaurant and the experience shows. Waitstaff is about 75/25 good/so-so, but never leaves you hanging and is quick on the refills. Good choice.
