My wife and I love this little restaurant. It has a nice feel to it and the servers are always so talkative and friendly. My wife had the craw fish Étouffée and i had a ham and cheese po boy. My sandwich was great but I ended up eating more of her entree cause it was fantastic! The cornbread they sell is amazing, and as always I ordered a little extra. They also have a nice little country store attached with Pralines and other local eateries. Another nice aspect of this place is that it's a little farther away from the madness of Bourbon street so if you want something different it's worth a try.

We always enjoy welcoming in you and your wife! Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful experiences with others. Excellent call recommending the Crawfish Etouffee, by the way. Have you had the chance to try any of our desserts?

Come back soon! Thanks again for the great review, and take care.

Best regards,

Curtis

The Praline Connection (TPC) should Take Care of Business (TCB). If you're a tourist and not used to well seasoned soul food, then the price and taste would be great to you. However, if you're a true lover of soul food then the food to you would be just okay. Let me say this, when you enter a restaurant you should be greeted by a hostess/host/waiter/waitress or someone. TPC falls short on this. When you enter you just glance and stare and wonder what to do next. Fortunately there was a waitress way in the back of the restaurant that waved to us and in a raised voice said "anywhere". The waiters and waitresses are a bit slow and lackadaisical to say the least, they don't seem to be excited to be here which lends to a lackluster experience at TPC. The mustard greens are out of the can. The red beans and rice are fair. The smothered chicken gravy was from a prepackaged brown gravy mix. The food was okay but overpriced, for expample an order of candied yams, were $4.25 (serving size about 1/2 small yam/sweet potato chopped) and an order of mac-n-cheese $3.95, paleeese! If you're vacationing you won't mind the expense but for Louisiana natives where this type of food is standard fair we won't pay this on a regular basis. TPC should concentrate on giving its customers a true taste of southern hospitality and engage in taking care of business by making their establishment able to compete with the other establishments in the area. TPC says their the best in New Orleans, I doubt this seriously. If in New Orleans and looking for soul food go to Willie Mae's Scotch House. If you're ever in Baton Rouge and want better seasoned food, top notch service, great price and atmosphere visit The Table is Bread Restaurant and experience Soul Food at it's best!

We had a wonderful meal. The catfish was cooked to perfection, the collard greens were flavorful and the cornbread was moist. We were treated so special by the staff and the food was delicious almost seemed homemade. The Abita Amber was so cold and served in a frosted glass.

Our tour guide recommended the fried chicken in this cute restaurant and boy howdy was Sylvester ever right! We got there before the crowds on a Friday night and enjoyed some peace before the crowds and families arrived. Our server, Cynthia, was great. Recommended some tasty locally brewed beers to go with our dinner. I also recommend the meat loaf. I know my Mama never made dinner as good as this and she was a good cook!

Stick around the area for some local bands. Look for them in Snug Harbor, and the Spotted Cat to name a few.
