The Palace Cafe has a convenient location, nice atmosphere and good food. The menu is small, but everything is well cooked. It's a big place so your chances of getting in are good. It's not a cheap place and not one you'll rave about, but a solid option.

It has a large staircase in the middle of the room. I just love the decor. Great food and service. Solid place to visit.

This place was yummy. Words cannot express how tasty this meal was. The food was rich! Enjoyed the Crabmeat Cheesecake and the Duck Gumbo. Service was great. Worth the visit.

Umm... wow, this place was great! My mom and I ended up here at the suggestion of our tour guide (a local guy) and boy were we lucky we listened to him! I know it may sound odd... but if you are in the mood for a savory, smooth, fluffy, creamy crabmeat treat... look no further. We were also lucky enough to stop by during their live Jazz brunch... was a pleasure, the trio stopped by each table of guests as they strolled in.

We had been to Palace Café once before, also for Sunday brunch as on this visit. The food is on the expensive side, but is quite good. Duck & garlic gumbo and turtle soup to start were both hearty and delicious. Entrees were alligator sausage and beans, and the Café eggs benedict, with a massive pile of pulled pork atop cheddar biscuits, with a tasso hollandaise covering perfectly poached eggs.

What was disappointing was the Bloody Mary, especially after we were given choice of house-infused vodkas, one of which was jalapeño (others were bacon, and a couple of herbal infusions–oregano and rosemary, I think?). We both chose jalapeño, figuring they would be nice and spicy; surprisingly, there was almost no heat at all, and actually very little flavor.

There is a nice jazz trio playing throughout Sunday brunch (unless they are on a break, which we managed to time perfectly, alas). I'd go again, especially with others (it's the kind of place you take your mother or grandmother). But for just us as a couple, we have other favorites in the quarter.
