We ate dinner here on a busy Saturday night and the place was packed! The service was impeccable and the waiter was very knowledgeable about wines. The food was good and the atmosphere was fun!

We started with the fried oysters and crab cake. Yummy says it all. The crab cake was loaded with crab, not full of bread crumbs. Ask for the sauce on the side, it did have a touch too much sauce. The fried oysters were cooked perfectly too.

They have two gumbos and a soup of the day, we wanted to try all but did not want a full bowl of each. They have a wonderful soup sampler with three espresso coups of soup so one can taste them all. The seafood gumbo was tasty and rich the ya-ya gumbo was pretty good but too smoky for my taste. The final soup was soup of the day eggplant soup...I was pleasantly surprised by the thick rich flavor.

We will be back for sure

Yes, beans and rice are not appealing to everyone, but it is tradition. Plus, there are a lot of other delicious options. Service was excellent too Hard to beat the price on the cocktails. Fun little spot and can tell it's popular for locals.

True, many memories in this establishment, all good. The heavy wood decor sets the stage, the wait staff is very attentive, wine list great and a wonderful spot if you have a group of friends to eat, drink and people watch out on Royal Street. I find the portions right sized, but some who are used to portion distortion might think they were too small. To them, have another drink and enjoy dessert.

Great buzz to this restaurant with elegant service and delicious food. Don't worry if they ask you to wait for 30 mins at the bar, it's worth it and not that long in reality - excellent menu with great choice - thoroughly enjoyed our evening here
