A very nice neighbourhood restaurant known to all the locals. We went to Katie’s based on recommendations on TripAdvisor and also the fact that our kids are DDD fans. My husband had a cup of gumbo and a seafood platter which included a side salad, a heaping plate of fries topped with shrimp, crawfish, catfish, oysters, and onion rings. I ordered Cochon de Lait served southern style as a po-boy with creole slaw and we shared a delicious white chocolate bread pudding. Total cost was $54.71 plus tip. The food and service were excellent and worth the 30 minute streetcar ride on the Canal Street line which was just an added bonus.

We are vegetarian but our friends are not - they all had the seafood and enjoyed it. However, i can only review what i ate which was the pizza - it was so salty that we could hardly eat it. Since we were with friends we didnt complain...

I always try to take in a Drive In's, Diners, and Dives place when I visit a city, the show does a great job of picking fantastic local restaurants. Katie's is about a 10 min cab ride from the French Quarter located in the middle of a residential neighbourhood..... a local spot for sure! We got there at about 11:30 on a Sunday and quickly realized that this is where you come to get the cobwebs out after a night of fun. We had about an hour wait but were able to grab a couple glasses of wine and stand outside with them while enjoying the nice Spring day. Once seated, service was fast and friendly. I mentioned to our server that we were from Canada and had come to Katie's because of DDD so she went in the back and brought out Scot Craig, the Executive Chef. He sat down with us, engaged us in a nice conversation, and personally thanked us for making the effort to visit his restaurant. Our meals were fantastic as expected... from what we ate and what I observed coming out of the kitchen I don't think there is a bad choice on the menu. Check out the website for the menu and make sure you look at their business hours before you go so you don't make the trip to find a closed restaurant.

I understand Katie's received kudos from The Food Network recently and deservedly so. Great family atmosphere and something for everyone--pizza, burgers, po'boys, steak and seafood--and some of the best cochon du lait you'll ever eat. Yum! Even a $30 po'boy, packed with seafood and as long as a table, called "The Barge". A high school track team ordered it when I was there yesterday! Not one apiece but one for the team!

We had Oysters (fresh, extraordinarily seasoned)! Delicious, best ever crawfish in a puff pastry! Wonderful brick-oven pizza with fresh ingredients & lots of choices for toppings. Service was excellent. Noise level was perfect. Easy access. On street parking but safe neighborhood. Wonderful experience overall.
