Make a point of trying this institution out. Yes, it'll probably be crowded but if you're staying locally they will deliver. Yes, the prices may seem high but they're comparable to other eateries and the portions are large. Yes, it may not be the prettiest place but if you want a fancy surrounding, go across or up the street and pay 2-3 times more. Yes, they are known for their po'boys but they serve breakfast as well and offer THE best hotcakes I've ever, ever had! How many times have you ordered pancakes only to have them go cold by the time you get butter and syrup on them? Try Johnny's Sweet Potato Hotcakes! These were not only great tasting but the last bite was STILL hot!

I come to New Orleans about three times a year, and is on my must stop list. It is ALWAYS CONSISTANTLY GOOD.
They have the best po boys in NO, hands down! They also have good breakfasts & other foods, but po boys are special.

Had a take out of their shrimp po-boy to eat on the hotel rooftop. Seemed like a very lively spot, might have been fun to stay and people watch. The po-boy had lots of shrimp, but was a bit short on the "dressed" part.

fresh, good value and has a nice gelato outlet upstairs away from the street. Busy at lunchtime but very efficient service.

Johnny's is a busy great po-boy machine grinding out sandwiches with a great attitude, and quick service. You need to have a po-boy when you go to NOLA and this is a good as it gets. The Etoufee is great too.
