Went there for Saturday lunch, had no reservation but got right in. (There were a couple of parties waiting for tables when we left.) Being first-timers, we had a tough time deciding between the Sat. specials and the menu items: grilled shrimp, trout topped with crabmeat, grilled-tuna salad. We got the onion rings, red beans and rice, and fried green tomatoes with shrimp -- in the end, a little too much fried food for us, but everything prepared nicely, including the amaretto cheesecake for dessert! Our server offered us a complimentary champagne cocktail -- the lagniappe for the day! Parking is on-street with meters, even on Saturday; we had no trouble finding a parking spot.

During our trip to NOLA we're walking down magazine street and recognize Joey K's from Triple D and had to stop here even though we just ate an hour before. Shrimp po-boy, jambalaya, red beans and rice and fried green tomatoes. The food was great! So glad we stopped here for a taste!

First New Orleans restaurant ever to not ask if a customer (me) if he wanted a second beer. Also, what's this apparent epidemic of serving across people? Walk around, for Heaven's sake. It happened at Tableau, too. The food was really good. This is in no way a dive. It's a fairly priced cafe and we really enjoyed our visit there. It's for me anyway, a good, laid-back alternative neighborhood-wise to Commander's Palace (it has become such a commotion to go there, I actually tried to hide in the men's room for awhile last week). It is not Cajun food , either. It's pretty standard, though very well-prepared, New Orleans old-school updated fare. It's good for locals and visitors. Great tarter sauce made in-house or high quality commercial. Much appreciated. Go!

JOEY K' s has classic Cajun dishes that are just good. The shrimp magazine was good, a little tart, but still tasty. My husband loves the Red Beans and Rice. Both of my trips to this location have proven they have excellent service. It is in a quaint area of NOLA, so lots of sights getting there. It is right off the parade route.

Hit another DDD restaurant (Diners, Drive Ins and Dives) on our trip to New Orleans. Neat but small place, very interesting interior and something like 10 tables with a few more outside. We were there shortly after they opened at 11am, and if filled up quite quickly while we were waiting for our meals. It was our last day in New Orleans and we wanted to try/re-try a few quintessential New Orleans items before we left, so we ordered a cup of gumbo and a cup of red beans and rice, a turkey poboy (not available as a half sandwich, just whole) and the appetizer shrimp remoulade salad. The turkey poboy was the only so-so item in the bunch, the gumbo was good and so was the red beans and rice. The salad (with grilled shrimp) made me wish I'd ordered the full sized salad instead of the appetizer salad, it was fantastic! Friendly service and good fresh food, you can't go wrong.
