On our recent trip to NOLA we visited Port of Call twice. The food is very good. On the second visit we had a bad experience regarding seating and left without eating, so be forewarned. The restaurant is busy and does not take reservations; a very busy server doubles as hostess for seating customers. Many customers elect to eat at the bar which is by the entryway. The entrance to the restaurant is small and crowded, especially in inclement weather when people do not want to wait outside, so it is easy for people to "cut the line" in front of people that arrived earlier. On our second visit, after waiting for 45 minutes to be seated, we witnessed some new arrivals immediately proceed to the bar area and claim some seats that were just being vacated. When we (along with some other customers that had been waiting even longer) objected, we were told that "you have to be aggressive" when it comes to bar seating, which is not based on wait time. Along with other tourists we were upset that new arrivals could "jump the line" ahead of us. Port of Call needs a better seating system to be fair to all their patrons.
