Description: The Pelican Club, offering a wide range of fabulous New Orleans dishes, consists of three dining rooms and a large bar fashioned from a handsome, 19th-century French Quarter townhouse, rising from the corner of Bienville Street and Exchange Place in the heart of the French Quarter. Owner, Richard Hughes, and his wife, Jean Stinnett-Hughes, transformed a neglected architectural gem into a welcoming restaurant decorated in a crisp blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has its own ambiance, created with such diverse elements as burnished Louisiana cypress, contemporary paintings by New Orleans artists, antique prints, and the dramatic contrast of black-leather banquettes against cream-colored brick walls. Such an atmosphere is sure to make your meal feel like a truly New Orleans experience.

“Excellent Food and Prices During Coolinary”
Reviewed September 2, 2014

In August this restaurant participates in Coolinary which is a special menu (choice of appetizer, main and dessert for $35) which is an outstanding value. As I was ordering I looked at the regular prices for the menu items and the price was at least double what we paid! That being said the food was excellent but if I paid full price I would not have felt I got my money's worth. The food was great, Crab cakes and bisque appetizers, Gulf fish and steak main entrees, and bread pudding and crème Brule for dessert. Waitstaff was very attentive and informative on selections. Overall I think it is an excellent place and food but a bit pricey if you pay regular price.

“Wow! Charming Ambiance, Amazing Cuisine”
Reviewed September 2, 2014

Dinner here was wonderful! Crab cakes, lobster, very generous portions. We were here during Coolinary and this made a pricey restaurant doable. The crazies weren't here, mature clientele who probably were not first time visitors. We will be back!

“Impecable food and service.”
Reviewed August 31, 2014

Even if you are not staying in the French Quarter, a trip to the Pelican Club is worth while Their crab cakes with pineapple-jalapeno chutney, and remoulade sauce are the best I've ever tasted. The gulf fish, as well as the seared sashimi tuna chinois salad was suberb. The service could not have been any better.

“5 stars for atmosphere, but...”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

Bourbon Street prices for ok food., but we gave it 5 stars for atmosphere. The wine list is extensive and expensive. Personally, I'd rather be served better food in a less upscale restaurant.

“Sophisticated Experience”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

Glad we had packed long trousers so we felt properly dressed for this super restaurant. Excellent meal, very well presented in a slightly more formal way than the rest of NO. Really happy with the experience, it seemed to be where the locals go, and that can't be a bad indicator.
