Description: The Pelican Club, offering a wide range of fabulous New Orleans dishes, consists of three dining rooms and a large bar fashioned from a handsome, 19th-century French Quarter townhouse, rising from the corner of Bienville Street and Exchange Place in the heart of the French Quarter. Owner, Richard Hughes, and his wife, Jean Stinnett-Hughes, transformed a neglected architectural gem into a welcoming restaurant decorated in a crisp blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has its own ambiance, created with such diverse elements as burnished Louisiana cypress, contemporary paintings by New Orleans artists, antique prints, and the dramatic contrast of black-leather banquettes against cream-colored brick walls. Such an atmosphere is sure to make your meal feel like a truly New Orleans experience.

“sit outside”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014

We had a very nice meal here but made the mistake of sitting inside. It was 8pm and the room was sparsely occupied. We were enjoying the good service and wine list and fine food. Then the room filled and the noise was remarkable. Conversation became impossible. So, sit outside if the weather permits and enjoy the experience.

“Huge portions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2014

We both had the crab and corn bisque which was very good and I ordered a shrimp, scallop, lobster meal which was perfectly cooked but entirely too much for one meal! Unfortunately, we didn't have a refrigerator in our room so there was no way to save the leftovers. Wish I could go back again!

“Food and service are great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014 via mobile

We had a wonderful dinner here on a Saturday night. We were a large group and the service was impeccable. Piano player was playing for the night. All the food everyone ordered was very good. We will be back!

“Awful!!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I went there for dinner during our honeymoon trip to NOLA...we found The Pelican Club and the food sounded good so we thought we would try it. My husband ordered lamb chops and when they came out they were burnt and barely edible. I order the surf and turf which came with scallops, lobster and shrimp and unfortunately the only thing I could eat were the shrimp and scallops. The lobster was not only over cooked and rubbery but didn't appear to be cleaned out at all. We will never go back.
