“Excellent meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

The Cafe Adelaide is in the Loew's Hotel on Poydras Street. It is a country-club casual sort of place so not the place to wear jeans! The menu was very interesting & food was excellent. We also found the service very good. Food was beautifully presented as well as being delicious. You won't be disappointed.

Excellent cocktails, I'm a whiskey guy, so Mint Julep, Old Fashioned, Manhattans were ALL done right... hand chipped ice, sized for your glass... stylish!!

“Great Food - Nice Room, Great Bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

I just had lunch here - and it didn't disappoint. Heard that it was a sister restaurant to Commander's Palace and owned by the Brennan Family, so gave it a try. It is part of the Loews Hotel, adjacent to the Casino and in the CBD, so if that is the part of town you want to be in - you are all set. The bar is great, and I loved the Saturday hat special - a free drink for those ladies wearing a hat. It gave the place a special elegance and old world charm - which considering it's modern decor is a good trick! The food is classic New Orleans with a little twist. I did eat at Commander's as well, and felt their gumbo was much better. The fish I had (drum I think) was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The creme brulee was creamy and rich and perfect. Service was very good and I had no complaints whatsoever.

“Not the greatest, but not the worst either”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

Went here as it was one of the few places we could get into.

Had the gumbo sampler and the jambalaya. The sampler was pretty good, but the jambalaya was not what I was expecting. It was very dry, had almost no meat or shrimp in it and was surrounded by a huge and I mean huge amount of fried catfish. Unlike the gumbo - it was not up to much and on it's own would have got a terrible rating.

So average overall.

“The BEST Bloody Marys in the world!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2013

We have to stop at the Swizzle Stick Bar whether we stay at the Loews or not. It is a highlight in itself and the bar tenders are some of the best.
