Description: Peche Seafood Grill. In French, "peche" means "catch." Inspired by trips to Spain and Uruguay, Peche will focus on seafood cooked over an open wood fire. Diners can watch as the seafood, along with meats and vegetables, cooks over the flames. The dishes, though, will still be rooted in Louisiana. The restaurant is a partnership between chefs Donald Link (Herbsaint, Cochon), Stephen Stryjewski (Cochon) and Ryan Prewitt, although Prewitt will have primary authority over the new kitchen. Housed in a restored 19th-century building, Peche will share the modern aesthetic of Cochon. According to the Link Restaurant Group, the restaurant will have "high, pickled-wood ceilings; large, soaring windows; a thick-topped Cypress bar; and a marble top oyster bar."

“Good Seafood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

The restaurant has a neat décor. A good spot for a date. The only downside of the atmosphere was how loud it was. I generally don't notice the noise too much but it seemed like some people were flat out yelling. The restaurant is somewhat casual, but too nice for that level of noise and could put a damper on trying to converse with your date. Service was hit and miss. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations, but at the end of the meal we seemed to be passed off on another server and there was some waiting. A little disorganized.

Food was very good. Fish was extremely fresh. Dirty Cajun rice with pecan was more like a risotto than regular rice dish. That was good as were the hush puppies. The amount of seafood they put in the ceviche is a bargain. Its still a little newer so hopefully some of the other issues will catch up to the quality of the seafood. Will probably be back next time I'm in NOLA.

“Fresh Fish!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Recently paid a return visit to Peche here in New Orleans because the first time was so very good! They prepare whole fish roasted in an open fire and served with a choice of different sauces. It is an outstanding fish and easily feeds two people. Other dishes are also terrific but go there for the whole fish! You won't be disappointed.

“Order the Fried Bread with Sea Salt!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

Definitely off the tourist path and well worth the walk from the French Quarter. Oh. My. Gosh. Do NOT forget to order the fried bread with sea salt. They are divine and give the traditional beignet a run for its money. I went with two other people and we ordered several appetizers and one entrée to share. I would skip the squash, bacon, & rice casserole but highly recommend the fish sticks w/LA31 batter, shrimp toast, and Louisiana shrimp roll. I’m not a big fan of tartar sauce – but theirs is addicting! It tasted like my Spanish host mother’s alioli sauce – I smothered as much of it onto the catfish as possible! I can’t really speak to the entrees, as we only ordered the shrimp. I’d recommend ordering it to share and don’t the same with another few dishes.

“Fish Cheeks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

I was a bit skeptical when my husband ordered the fish cheeks as an appetizer and I was very pleasantly surprised at the taste! I was however disappointed with the shrimp balls - little taste and very almost burnt crisp.

“Fish Find a Home Here”

Food VG. Service rough around the edges. But Manager apologized. And when my Drum fish arrived, it was worth the wait.
