My wife and I ate here during our recent visit to NOLA, as it was just a short walk from where we were staying. The food is very tasty - I had a sampler that included a number of items and went away happy and full, for a reasonable price. One of the items on my sampler was a lamb kebab, and I would certainly recommend their lamb based on this.

The decor is simple and a bit humorious - never did figure out why the artwork featured rabbits at a bar, a winged rabbit, etc. It's not your high-end dining experience, but tasty Middle food at reasonable prices, with friendly service.

Very good meals - typical menu, all very well done. Grape leaves are made on site and not canned variety. Kibbie also made on site. Typical schwarmas and so forth - nothing that really separates this menu from other places, but all done very well. Pleasant environment in the Maple St. shopping area.

This cafe is just a couple of blocks off St. Charles Avenue in a hip little neighborhood busy with young college students.

We make it a point to call ahead to be sure they're open when planning a trip to New Orleans - the food is excellent.

If the owner is there, he's very friendly and can give you some fascinating history and facts about olive oil, about how it allowed men to take to the sea in longer trips (preservative) and the wars fought over it.

I have been going to Babylon for years because it's GOOD. It is VERY good. Mona's is a couple minutes from my house but I drive all the way across town on a regular basis to get to Babylon because I cannot resist it. The portions are HUGE, for the same price as everywhere else. And, it tastes better than everywhere else in town.

I recommend the Greek Salad. It'll be the best (and largest) you've ever had. The vegetarian plate is great, the falafel sandwiches and, according to my boyfriend, the gyros, are perfect. Hummus is creamy and rich. The staff is always very warm and happy.

You can bring your wine and they don't charge a corking fee, unlike other places.
