It had been a couple of years since we last dined at College Inn. We found ourselves hungry and in the neighborhood, so we decided to give the place another visit.

Our dinner was as follows:
Appetizer - BBQ shrimp, they were excellent
Main Course - crab topped redfish and the smoked pork chop, both were delicious. Oh, and the sweet potato casserole as a side was a knock-out.

We were very delighted at the tastiness of our meal and would highly recommend the above dishes as a first meal if you've never been to YOCI.

Next on the list from here is the beef tenderloin. I was a bit reticent at the $35 price tag of the dish (that is fine dining prices, which YOCI is not). But after the having such a pleasant meal, I'll save my pennies until we can afford to try it out.

BTW, don't waste your money on the burger.

This was our second trip to Ye Olde College Inn. Our first was in 2006 and every time we have gone to New Orleans since then it has been on a weekend. One thing to remember, they aren't open on Monday, but the wait till Tuesday is certainly worth it!!!
I had an eggplant and tomato bisque and a very nice salad that was freshly picked from their private garden.
Hubby had a leg of lamb that he declares was the best he's ever eaten.
We split a desert that was deep fried bread pudding, yes, dusted with powdered sugst that was so good.
Our server was friendly and helpful, sharing the restaurant's history as he served us. We will make it a point to go back to New Orleans when Ye Olde College Inn is open.

Stopped in with friends while in New Orleans. Has lots of parking and a nice bar area if you have to wait. We ordered veal cutlets, braised beef and a po-boy - all good. My only (minor) complaint would be the garden salad which includes inedible pieces of mustard and collard greens. I'm sure they're healthy and all, but raw? No thanks. If you want to add a bitter green to a salad go for the arugula. The taste and texture are better.

We went to Ye Olde College Inn on Carrollton in the Garden District on the advice of a friend who is a New Orleans native. We were not disappointed! The fried green tomatoes with a pile of shrimp on top, smothered in a delicious remoulade sauce, were excellent. When you're there, check out the Rock 'n' Bowl next door. Definitely worth a visit!
