Stopped in with friends while in New Orleans. Has lots of parking and a nice bar area if you have to wait. We ordered veal cutlets, braised beef and a po-boy - all good. My only (minor) complaint would be the garden salad which includes inedible pieces of mustard and collard greens. I'm sure they're healthy and all, but raw? No thanks. If you want to add a bitter green to a salad go for the arugula. The taste and texture are better.
We went to Ye Olde College Inn on Carrollton in the Garden District on the advice of a friend who is a New Orleans native. We were not disappointed! The fried green tomatoes with a pile of shrimp on top, smothered in a delicious remoulade sauce, were excellent. When you're there, check out the Rock 'n' Bowl next door. Definitely worth a visit!
Everything from service to dinner was exceptional. The food was fresh and perfectly done. We had the fried tomatoes w/shrimp and the oyster blue both appetizer were great. For dinner we had the chicken and the soft shell crabs both were awesome. The bread pudding for dessert is a must. I have a feeling that anything you order in this restaurant will be great.
We stopped here after a busy day of visiting plantations. We were able to find parking in one of the lots in the back even though the front lot was crowded. It was way too noisy and crowded inside to hang around waiting for a table. The waitress led us to the outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant and was great about popping out ever once in awhile to check on us. It was a lovely evening to sit outside and quiet enough to hear ourselves thinking. We also had fun watching the patrons coming and going especially the young priests from Xavier University across the street. The food was fresh and the fried bread pudding tasty. Would definitely eat here again especially if it is a nice evening for sitting outside.
