“Excellent time at Atchafalaya”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Earlier this year, a group of friends went down to New Orleans to eat and drink our way through town for a bachelor party. Our meal at Atchafalaya was the capstone of this experience. Despite being a party of somewhat rowdy bachelors, we appreciated the hospitality and the food offered at Atchafalaya. We even found out that our waiter used to live down the street from where a member of our party currently lives. Overall, it was a great time and look forward to returning on my next visit to New Orleans.

“"Can you pronounce Atchafalaya?"”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Atchafalaya is a Native American name that means river and the Atchafalaya River about 20 miles from the restaurant. This is a charming neighborhood restaurant in the Garden District, a bit tricky to find in the dark but most definitely worth it. The food was incredible and worth the wait. The problem this restaurant has is the kitchen is way too small for the size of the restaurant. We were there on a Saturday night and they had a packed house so this was challenging for the kitchen. The waiter told us that they were not completely prepared for the popularity of the restaurant. I hope they can enlarge the kitchen because the food is fabulous. I found the menu choices very original and the preparation remarkable good. The owners and wait staff were very apologetic and wanted to make sure the food was worth the wait and indeed it was.

“Wonderful Food”
Reviewed November 4, 2012 via mobile

This is a unique, neighborhood spot. Intimate lighting and relaxing atmosphere. The food was great. We had several small plates and the fish special. Wonderful flavors and interesting preparations. Their only issue was the service. They were nice enough, but apparently the kitchen had some problem that night and the service was painfully slow. Even so, I'd give them another try.

“Great food, music, fun, people.”
Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

This place is great anytime but brunch is very fun for me. The staff is really nice punctuated by the dude at the host stand with the curly hair who did his best to fulfill my non-existent reservation even though it was my mistake for making it on the wrong day. Even though I ended up choosing to stay at the bar, it was much appreciated so thanks to him. The bartender was really nice too and the food was of course, great! I was able to enjoy awesome live music, eat well, and make new friends. I was originally planning to eat and then pop over to Tracey's and watch some football but the atmosphere was too good to leave behind. I look forward to getting back.
