“Excellent food, enormous portions”

Great food, great service, wonderful desserts. We had to get take-out bags each time because the portions were so large. The menu is somewhat limited but quite varied, with something for everyone.

“Brasserie with view of the Park”
Reviewed November 20, 2013 via mobile

A cozy restaurant /bistro / bar on corner of Royal and Frenchman with great ambience and chilled out putamayo world music and relaxed people.
Had a small snack mozzarella sticks, freshly made to order from a block of cheeses, as a pause before heading back down Decateur for the rush and din of the Quarter.
Open all afternoon , no matter if you're droning lattes or hard liquor with or without food, this is definitely the classiest coolest place in the neighborhood right now.

“Unexpected excellence”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

We came to this restaurant after a bad experience with a cab company. Yellow cab NEVER showed after 3 calls and 1 1/2 hour wait to see Kermit Ruffins at his Treme Speakeasy. I was so upset. My husband looked for a place close enough to walk from our rental, and found the Marigny Brasserie on Frenchman Street. We were not expecting much. What a pleasant surprise! Our waitress Brittany was amazing. Granted, it was a slow night, as the Saints had just finished playing (and winning). We asked about soup, and Brittany actually brought us little samples because she thought "something was missing" and she didn't want us to be disappointed. We didn't order the soup, but she did guide us through recommendations. My husband had the red beans and rice with alligator sausage. I had the special of redfish with lyonnaise potatoes. His was quite good, but the andouie sausage option would have been a better choice. Mine was fantastic! I shared some with my husband, and he raved about it. When we told Brittany how much we enjoyed it, she brought Alex out of the kitchen to greet us as well. We were treated like old friends, the atmosphere was casual but classy, the food great. Oh, and I loved the Pear Collins drink!

“good food but really slow kitchen”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We went to this restaurant because we had reservations at Snug Harbor for music and there aren't many other restaurants nearby. We were told it would be a 30 min wait even though half the restaurant was empty, and the hostess confided that there were only two in the kitchen and she didn't want us to have to wait for our dinner. We had to wait 45 min for our food anyway; after a 30 min wait to be seated. The restaurant remained half empty the whole evening, which was a good thing, because it is very noisy. Having said all that, I ordered the barbequed shrimp and garlic grits, which were really good. LOTS of garlic. Another at my table had the fried chicken and said it was good. They were out of oysters, which was a huge disappointment. How can a restaurant in New Orleans be out of oysters?

“Nice find..”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

This is a very nice restaurant in a good location. The food was good. We had the mozzarella sticks and they were definitely homemade. Our meals were good and Gina (not sure if that is how she spells it) was very nice, friendly, and helpful. She is a keeper.
