“Great New Orleans Neighborhood Oyster Destination”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Only open during Oyster season (months with "r" in the them) and limited times even then -- but this place centrally located uptown is THE place to go for a real local oyster experience.
Shucking in New Orleans is fast and dirty - so expect some grit - it really is normal. The oysters are HUGE, sweet and fresh and only $11/dozen (up from year's past but now a cheap price).
Also try to fried seafood - this place is a good example of how New Orleans takes frying to another level. The fried clab claws, oysters and catfish were all great and the shrimp were the best. A very good gumbo once you spice it up.
The real experience you are looking for if you are an adventurous tourist.

“Food channel sent me here”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

I had to try this place after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It was worth the special trip over to experience it. The food was really good - raw oyster, char-grilled oysters, fried oyster loaf, soft shell crab claws - all were very good. The folks who work there were very friendly, and the locals were so outgoing and helpful. They pointed out even more local hangouts to try. We had a great visit to Casamento's and would highly recommend giving it a try! OH, and we will never buy ready-made cocktail sauce again!

“grity oysters”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

Not worth the wait in line. the oysters are grity with shell pieces in them. the staff is not friendly and I had to ask 3 times to get our check and our visit took 2.5 hrs after we sat down, with a 45 min wait in line for a table for 3. the fried seafood was very good and fresh, the catfish was very good.

“Great neighborhood place”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

This is not a fancy place, but if you lower your expectations of fine dining, you'll leave full and happy. Get there early, wait in line, and count yourself lucky if you get a table when they first open. Sit and watch the others line up, order a dozen fresh oysters and enjoy.

“Oysters, but I wished they could have been cleaned better.”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

I had two dozen oysters and fried crab claws. Well, the oysters were tasty as I had two dozen, but they didn't wash them off either after removing the shells. I am still well the day after, so no harm. I did try the fried crab claws. Several things about the claws, fried, not much meat and expensive for what I received; although, they were good, not enough of them to eat. Price of oysters was reasonable.
